Paddy Power, Coral, and Ladbrokes top my list for the best betting sign-up offers in July 2026. Each is slightly different and has its own strength: Paddy Power’s £40 from a £5 stake is an 8x return, Coral and Ladbrokes return 6x from the same £5 stake, and Betfair pays one of the biggest totals at £50.
Two operators have the biggest headline total offer, at £50: Betfair and Betfred. Betfair, Paddy Power and Monopoly Sports give the longest window to use the free bets, at 30 days instead of the seven days which most rivals offer.
Below is the full comparison: 18 UKGC-licensed operators, over £600 in free bets between them, scored on five criteria most important to the average punter (value, transparency, time, etc.). The full ranking methodology and a breakdown are below.

Our review methodology – What makes one of the best betting offers?
We scored every UK sports betting sign-up offer on five criteria, with sheer value carrying the most weight. Smaller weightings have been given to time window and transparency, though these are still considered.
| Criteria | What we assessed |
|---|---|
| Offer value | Sheer bonus amount and how that compares to the qualifying stake. Counts double. |
| Achievability | Minimum qualifying odds and payment restrictions. |
| Flexibility | Whether the qualifying bet is usable across any sport or event or limited to Bet Builders and accas or to specific sports; then the details of how the free bets can be used. |
| Validity period | How many days the punter has to claim the offer, and after that, how many days after free bets last before expiring. |
| Simplicity and transparency | How clearly the terms are presented during sign-up: playthrough requirements, opt-in or special promo code demands, cashed-out bets voiding the offer, and excluded payment methods buried in the small print. |
Dividing total bonus value by qualifying stake across these UK betting sites, Paddy Power (£40 from £5, an 8x return) delivers the highest ratio, with Coral and Ladbrokes tied behind it at 6x (£30 from £5 in both cases).
On sheer value alone, SpreadEx appears to take the cake: £60 is the biggest total, but only £30 of it is fixed-odds free bets, with the rest in spread bets (and it’s far too easy to haemorrhage your money on spread betting), so it scores mid-table on value rather than near the top.
bet365 takes a different route to a high score since its £30 total is comparatively modest, but a 1/5 minimum odds floor makes it by far the easiest offer on this page to clear. Once achievability and flexibility are weighted in alongside raw value, low-stake and low-odds operators both come out ahead of the bigger headline payouts.
A smaller £20 offer like Monopoly Sports does well on a low qualifying bar and a 30-day window, but can’t reach the leaders on those alone.
Comparing the top ten free bet offers in the UK (2026)

| 3. Coral | Bet £5, get £30 | 1/2 | 7 days | Best for horse racing |

1. Paddy Power: Best value-to-stake ratio
Paddy Power’s welcome offer is built around a small stake and a single large free bet. Bet £5 at odds of evens or above on any sports market, and a £40 sports free bet lands once the qualifying wager settles, valid for 30 days. Deposits via Pay by Bank, debit card, or Apple Pay qualify.
You can use it on most bet types, though system bets (Lucky 15, Heinz, Yankee and similar) are excluded. Power Price bets don’t count toward qualifying, alongside cashed-out and partially cashed-out wagers. Also note that Best Odds Guaranteed doesn’t apply to bets placed with the free bet. Claiming this offer excludes you from any other Paddy Power sign-up promotion.
- 8x return on a £5 stake, best ratio on this list
- 30-day expiry; single £40 free bet usable on most sports markets
- Low £5 minimum qualifying stake, only matched by Coral and Ladbrokes
- E-wallet deposits (Skrill, PayPal, Neteller, Paysafe) excluded
- Best Odds Guaranteed doesn’t apply to bets placed with the free bet,
- Cashing out the qualifying bet voids the offer
/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia-eurosport.s3.gra.io.cloud.ovh.net%2Fbetting%2F2026%2F06%2Fpaddy-power-40-free-bet-sign-up-offer.jpg)
2. Betfair: best 30-day offer expiry for accas & multiples
Betfair’s £50 across five £10 tokens is a 5x return and one of the three biggest totals here, so it scores high on value. It scores higher still on validity: 30 days to use your tokens is four times the usual window. To qualify, place a £10 bet on the Sportsbook at 1/1 or higher, with deposits via Pay by Bank, Apple Pay or debit card.
The flexibility catch is that the tokens can’t go on singles, which matters if you prefer straight bets on individual matches or races. The 30-day validity softens that, giving you time to find a sensible multi-leg spot rather than forcing a poor-value acca to avoid wasting a token.
On transparency, void, unmatched, unsettled, cashed-out and same-market bets don’t count towards qualifying, nine system bet types are excluded, and Exchange users should note the welcome tokens are Sportsbook-only.
- 30-day free bet validity, 4x the industry-standard 7 days
- £50 total value
- No sport restrictions on the free bets
- Free bets locked to Bet Builders, accas and multiples
- PayPal and Skrill deposits excluded
- Excluded from 9 system bet types, including Lucky 15 and Yankee
/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia-eurosport.s3.gra.io.cloud.ovh.net%2Fbetting%2F2026%2F06%2Fbetfair-50-free-bet-sign-up-offer.jpg)
3. Coral: Best dedicated horse racing bet builder free bets
Bet £5 at minimum odds of 1/2 (1.5) within 14 days of registration and Coral credits 6 × £5 free bets. Four of these are usable on any sportsbook market, one is locked to a football bet builder and one to a horse racing bet builder. Each free bet must be staked in full within 7 days of being credited, and if one of these wagers is voided, Coral returns the stake, a protection not every operator on this page offers.
Deposits via Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill and prepayment cards don’t qualify, and a handful of debit cards are excluded too, so it’s worth reading our Coral review and checking your specific card before depositing.
Free bets can’t be used on Virtual Sports, Tote or Pools, and the same exclusions apply to the qualifying bet itself, along with specials markets and any bet placed using a price boost. If you don’t bet on horse racing, one of your free bets is essentially wasted. The £5 denomination is also fiddly compared with Betfred’s £10 chunks.
- £5 qualifying stake, matched only by Ladbrokes and Paddy Power
- 6x return on the qualifying bet
- Free bet stake is returned if the wager is voided
- 1 of 6 free bets locked to a horse racing bet builder
- Certain debit cards excluded from deposits, not just e-wallets
- Qualifying bet and free bets both excluded from Tote, Pools and Virtual Sports
/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia-eurosport.s3.gra.io.cloud.ovh.net%2Fbetting%2F2026%2F06%2Fcoral-30-free-bet-sign-up-offer.jpg)
4. Ladbrokes: Best football bet builder welcome offer
Ladbrokes and Coral are both Entain brands with the same £5 stake, 1/2 minimum odds and 14-day qualifying window. The difference is in how the reward is split. Where Coral allocates one free bet to a horse racing bet builder, Ladbrokes replaces it with a second football bet builder bonus, making it one of our team’s preferred football betting sites.
The free bets expire 7 days after they’re credited. If you’re a football punter, the Ladbrokes sign up offer is the better fit.
Excluded deposit methods are the same as Coral’s: Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe, Skrill and pre-payment cards.
The LadBucks loyalty programme is another differentiator; it converts staking volume into points redeemable for free bets or cash. Because both operators use Entain’s infrastructure, having account issues at one brand can occasionally affect access to the other.
If you already have a Coral account, Ladbrokes is the natural second option. Check out the Ladbrokes review to see how it compares.
- £5 qualifying stake with 1/2 minimum odds
- Two football bet builder free bets, each separate from the other so you can stagger them across different matches
- LadBucks loyalty programme adds ongoing value after the welcome offer
- Free bets locked to football and general sportsbook markets
- Certain debit cards, plus all major e-wallets, are blocked from the qualifying deposit
- Entain’s joint infrastructure can link account issues across brands

5. Betfred: Best straight bets and acca combined offer
Betfred’s £50 is a 5x return and joint-highest here on value. Place £10 or more at evens or higher within 7 days of registering and it credits £30 in sports free bets plus £20 in Bet Builder free bets within 24 hours of settlement. Check our Betfred review for more on how the bookie operates.
The £30 portion has no restrictions, which is the best part of this offer; the £20 is tied to the Bet Builder, so you’ll need a selection ready to use that part. Validity is the weak spot: the qualifying bet must settle within 7 days of registering, then the free bets expire 7 days after issue, tight at both ends.
Deposits work by debit card, Apple Pay or Truelayer instant bank transfer. The Betfred promo code page has the full list of eligibility exclusions and the step-by-step claim process.
- £50 total free-bet value, joint-highest among UKGC-licenced operators
- Flexible £30 in free bets to spend on any market
- Accepts debit card, Apple Pay or Truelayer transfer
- No PayPal or Skrill deposits
- Must be a single £10+ bet, smaller stakes added together don’t qualify
- Qualifying bet must be at evens, a higher bar than Coral’s 1/2
/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia-eurosport.s3.gra.io.cloud.ovh.net%2Fbetting%2F2026%2F06%2Fbetfred-50-free-bets-sign-up-offer.jpg)
6. Sky Bet: Best free bet tokens, built for the tournament
The current Sky Bet sign up offer pays £50 for a single £10 bet on any market, single, each-way or multiples, at 1/1 or greater. That 5x return ties Betfred and Betfair for the biggest total here. Once your bet settles, you get five £10 tokens back, but they’re football-locked: three for BuildABets, two for accas. That sport lock is the lowest flexibility score on the page.
On validity, you have 30 days from registering to meet the requirement, then 7 days before the free bets expire. Transparency is reasonable, since the football lock is stated plainly.
Neteller and Skrill deposits are excluded, and you’re only eligible if you’ve never held a Sky Bet, Sky Vegas, Sky Casino, Sky Bingo or Sky Poker account before. For a closer look at what the bookmaker is like to use day to day, check out our Sky Bet review.
- Qualifying bet can be on any sport, not just football
- 30 days to meet staking requirements
- Strong offer for multi-leg football bets rather than singles
- Free bets locked entirely to football
- None of the five tokens works on a straight single
- This is a World Cup limited-time boosted offer
/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia-eurosport.s3.gra.io.cloud.ovh.net%2Fbetting%2F2026%2F06%2Fimage-1782812329.png)
7. BOYLE Sports: Fastest free bet turnaround
The BOYLE Sports sign up offer isn’t split the reward into smaller pieces. Bet £10 at evens or greater and BOYLE credits one £40 free bet, in full, within 5 minutes of your qualifying bet settling. This is among the fastest turnarounds among UK bookies, hence why it scores top of the table on transparency.
The £40 free bets is best suited for a punter who already has a multi-leg acca or bet builder lined up. You have 30 days from account opening to place that bet, the same runway Betfair and bet365 give, with 7 days to use the free bet.
Excluded deposit methods are: Skrill/Moneybookers, Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe and prepaid cards. Cashed-out qualifying bets don’t count either, and once credited, the free bet can’t be combined with BOYLE’s other promotions like Acca Rewards or Price Boosts.
- Free bet credited within 5 minutes of the bet settling
- Multiples qualify if combined odds reach evens or above
- 30 days to place the qualifying bet
- Single £40 free bet
- Free bet can’t be stacked with other BOYLE promotions
- Skrill, Neteller, PayPal, Paysafe and prepaid card deposits excluded
/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia-eurosport.s3.gra.io.cloud.ovh.net%2Fbetting%2F2026%2F06%2Fboyle-sports-40-free-bets-sign-up-offer.jpg)
8. bet365: Best free bets with the easiest minimum qualifying odds
The bet365 bonus code pays 300% of your qualifying deposit in Bet Credits, capped at £30, so a £5 deposit unlocks £15, and a £10 deposit unlocks the full amount. Credits are granted once you settle a qualifying bet matching your deposit, up to £10. The minimum qualifying odds of 1/5 is the lowest of any operator on this list, which is ideal for those who like backing short-priced favourites.
The qualifying window is also generous. You have 30 days from registering to claim the offer, then a further 30 days from claiming to settle your qualifying bets. Once awarded, though, the Bet Credits expire 7 days later.
Cashed-out bets, void bets, boosted-odds bets, free bets and in-play pushes don’t count toward releasing your credits. The T&Cs list PayPal and paysafecard as excluded, but bet365 support confirmed both work once you’ve verified two ID documents.
Still, we suggest sticking to more traditional methods like debit cards for your first deposit to avoid any issues. Check the bet365 review to see what else you need to know before registration.
- 1/5 minimum qualifying odds, lowest available
- 30-day opt-in window plus 30 days to settle qualifying bets
- £5 minimum deposit
- Excluded from Tote, Colossus, Lotto, Fantasy Sports and several other bet types
- £30 total value, below the £50 offered by 3 competitors
- Bets placed with bet credits don’t qualify for Acca Boost
/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia-eurosport.s3.gra.io.cloud.ovh.net%2Fbetting%2F2026%2F06%2Fbet365-30-free-bet-sign-up-offer.jpg)
9. SpreadEx sign-up offer: Biggest total offer (£60) but higher risk
SpreadEx posts the biggest headline figure on this page, £60 from a £10 stake, but the structure is unlike anything above it. Only £30 of that comes as conventional fixed-odds free bets, credited as three £10 tokens, one a day across three days. The other £30 arrives as spread bets (three £5 Total Goals football spreads, three £5 Winning Favourites racing spreads and a £1 Race Index spread) and those need a separate full spread-betting account to claim.
The qualifying bet itself is a low bar: £10 at 1/2 (1.5) or greater, fixed odds or each-way (only the win part of an each-way counts), placed pre-event or in-play, though it can’t be cashed out early.
The fixed-odds part (£30) is the “free” part. Approach the spread bets with caution: spread betting can lose more than your stake. The risk is disclosed in the small print, but the framing is the issue.
On the plus side, the free bets last 28 days from crediting, among the most generous windows here and far longer than the standard 7. Treat it as a strong £30 fixed-odds offer with a spread-betting sweetener for punters who already understand the product.
Pros
Cons
10. William Hill: Best free bets usable on any market
On value, £30 from a £10 stake is a 3x return, mid-pack. The appeal is flexibility. The free bets from the William Hill promo code aren’t restricted to one sport or bet type.
To get there, you’ll need a £10 deposit and a single £10 bet at 1/2 (easier odds than the evens that many offers require) or better on anything except virtuals. Once that settles, £30 lands as 3 × £10 free bets, and each one has to be staked in full in one go.
The deposit side is more restrictive. PayPal, Apple Pay, Neteller, Skrill, Paysafe, Neosurf, ecoPayz, Kalibra/Postpay and the WH PLUS Card are all excluded. Cash out or void your qualifying bet, and you’re disqualified entirely, no second attempt, unlike Betfred, where a voided bet just gets replaced. Check the William Hill review for more details.
- Free bets valid on any sports market excluding Virtuals
- 1/2 minimum odds, an easier bar than the evens most £10-stake offers ask for
- Free Racing TV access included with every account
- Qualifying bet must be a single; each-way and multiples don’t count
- £10 each free-bet denomination must be used in full per bet
- A voided or cashed-out qualifying bet disqualifies you entirely
/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia-eurosport.s3.gra.io.cloud.ovh.net%2Fbetting%2F2026%2F06%2Fwilliam-hill-30-free-bets-sign-up-offer.jpg)
11. Monopoly Sports: best low-odds offer with a 30-day window
On headline value, Monopoly is not the best: £20 from a £10 stake is a 2x return, the same as NetBet. What it does well is everything around that small bonus. The qualifying bet only needs minimum odds of 1/2 (1.5), one of the lowest bars here, and you get a full 30 days to use the free bets once they land, four times the usual window and matched only by Paddy Power and Betfair.
You have 30 days from your first deposit to place a settled £10 bet, after which two £10 tokens are credited. Boosted odds, second-chance bets and free bets don’t count as the qualifier.
The free bets are non-withdrawable with the stake not returned, as usual. It’s a sportsbook bolted onto a casino brand, so if you want a generous total this isn’t it, but for a low-pressure way to clear a welcome offer the long windows and soft odds are hard to argue with.
- Minimum qualifying odds of 1/2 (1.5)
- 30-day free-bet validity, four times the standard 7 days
- 30 days from deposit to place the qualifying bet
- £20 total, a 2x return that trails most of the page
- Two £10 tokens only, no flexibility in how the bonus is split
12. Virgin Bet: a Bet Builder on every England game
Virgin Bet’s £30 from a £10 stake is a 3x return, mid-pack on value, but two things work in its favour. The qualifying bet needs only 1/2 (1.5) minimum odds, an easy bar, and through the 2026 World Cup it adds a free Bet Builder on every England game on top of the welcome offer, which is genuinely useful timing if you’re betting the tournament.
The £30 splits into two £10 sportsbook tokens and two £5 Bet Builder tokens. The £10 tokens need evens (2.0) to use, a small step up from the 1.5 you needed to qualify, so factor that in. You have 14 days to settle the qualifying bet and 7 days to use each free bet once credited. Pre-paid and virtual cards are excluded. It’s a solid all-rounder lifted by the England-game extra while the World Cup is on.
- 1/2 (1.5) minimum qualifying odds
- Free Bet Builder on every England game during the 2026 World Cup
- 14 days to settle the qualifying bet
- Free bet tokens need evens (2.0), higher than the 1.5 qualifying odds
- £10 of the £30 is locked to Bet Builders
- 7-day expiry on the free bets
13. kwiff: best big-total offer for accas
kwiff matches BetMGM and Boyle on headline total at £40 from a £10 stake, a 4x return and one of the biggest here outside the £50 offers. The structure is the catch. The £40 comes as four £10 tokens, but only one works as a straightforward single on any sport. Two are acca tokens needing at least three selections, and the fourth is a Bet Builder token, also minimum three selections.
To qualify you place a £10 bet at evens (2.0) within five days of depositing, a shorter window than most. Free bets then expire seven days after crediting, and there’s no turnover requirement on any winnings, which is a clear plus. If you bet accas and Bet Builders anyway, the £40 is excellent value; if you mostly back singles, three of the four tokens won’t suit you.
- £40 total, joint-biggest outside the £50 offers
- Two acca tokens and a Bet Builder token suit multi-leg bettors
- No turnover requirement on free-bet winnings
- Each-way and multiples don’t count as the qualifier
- Three of four tokens need a minimum of three selections
- Only five days from deposit to place the qualifying bet
14. BetMGM: Best sign up offer for Bet Builders and singles
On value alone, BetMGM sits mid-pack: £40 from a £10 stake is a 4x return, behind Paddy Power’s 8x and the £50 offers. It loses ground on achievability. Evens is tougher than Coral or Ladbrokes’ 1/2 and the qualifying bet excludes virtual sports, esports and non-UK/Irish racing.
Transparency and flexibility score low. Splitting the bonus 2-and-2 between open sports free bets and Bet Builder bonuses sounds generous, until you notice the Bet Builder reward carries its own higher bar: 3/1 minimum combined odds, tougher than the evens you needed just to qualify in the first place. The tight 7-day window applies to both placing your qualifier and using what you’re given.
- Each-way counts as a qualifier too, not just win-only bets, provided you stake £10 on each side
- Half the £40 is unrestricted, usable on any sports bet
- Bet Builders count as a single set of odds, easier to hit evens with multiple legs than betting them individually
- Multiples don’t count towards qualifying bet; single bets and Bet Builders only
- Each-way qualifiers require £10 staked each way (£20 total)
- Bet Builder rewards need 3/1 odds
/https%3A%2F%2Fmedia-eurosport.s3.gra.io.cloud.ovh.net%2Fbetting%2F2026%2F06%2Fbetmgm-40-free-bet-sign-up-offer.jpg)
15. Parimatch: best for football-focused free bets
Parimatch’s £20 from a £10 stake is a 2x return, towards the bottom on value, and the token split leans football. Opt in, then bet £10 at evens (2.0) within 7 days. On settlement you get a £5 any-sport (excluding racing) token and a £5 football Bet Builder token (3+ selections), with a £5 any-football and a £5 any-sports token following 24 hours later.
Two of the four tokens are football-only and a third excludes horse racing, so racing bettors get little here. The upside is there’s no wagering requirement and no cash-out on the qualifier. Free bets need evens to use and expire seven days after landing. It suits a football bettor who wants a clean, no-wagering offer rather than the biggest total.
Pros
- No wagering requirement on free bets
- Two football tokens plus a football Bet Builder token
- Clear, staggered crediting on settlement and 24 hours later
Cons
- £20 total, a 2x return near the bottom of the page
- No horse racing token, and one token excludes racing entirely
- 7-day qualifying window and 7-day free-bet expiry
16. NetBet: best multi-sport-specific free bets
On value, the NetBet bonus code unlocks one of the weakest offers displayed: £20 from a £10 stake is a 2x return. Flexibility is low too, because all four tokens are sport-locked. Bet £10 at 1/1 or better and NetBet splits the £20 across four sports: £5 on a football Bet Builder (3/1 minimum), £5 on a football acca (4+ legs), £5 on a horse racing acca (2+ legs) and £5 on tennis in-play, the only token with no stated minimum odds or legs.
On validity, each free bet token runs on its own 7-day clock from the moment it’s credited, not from when you placed the qualifier. PayPal, Neteller and Skrill don’t qualify for the deposit; debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay are the way in.
The reason to pick NetBet is mainly if you want its in-play tools (SnapBet, its live-market feature) and already bet across football, racing and tennis. NetBet also runs Netpoints, an ongoing loyalty scheme that most operators at this tier don’t have. Our NetBet review covers how Netpoints works.
- No minimum odds on the tennis in-play free bet
- Suits multi-sport punters
- Accumulat Netpoints loyalty scheme on real-money bets
- Among the lower value-to-stake ratio on this page
- No unrestricted free bet, unlike Coral, Betfred or William Hill
- Football Bet Builder bonus requires minimum odds of 3/1

17. easyBet: best for low-commission exchange betting
easyBet is a betting exchange, so the draw is peer-to-peer pricing and lower commissions rather than the welcome offer, which is the weakest on value here. “Bet £20, Get £20” is a 1x match, and because free bets don’t return their stake, £20 in tokens is worth noticeably less than £20 in cash. To qualify you place and settle £20 across at least two different events at evens (2.0) or greater, so it’s two qualifying bets, not one.
The £20 comes as four £5 tokens: one soccer-only, one horse-racing-only, one multiples and one any-market. Skrill, Neteller and PaySafe deposits don’t qualify. If you value an exchange’s odds and commission structure for ongoing betting, easyBet has a case; purely on the sign-up offer, almost everything above it pays more.
- Exchange pricing and lower commissions for ongoing betting
- A dedicated horse racing token alongside soccer and multiples
- Low evens qualifying odds
- 1x return, the weakest value-to-stake offer here
- Two separate qualifying bets required, not one
- Free-bet expiry isn’t stated on the offer page
18. Funky Jackpot: £30 single free bet, with a wagering requirement
Funky Jackpot’s £30 looks bigger than the £20 offers, but it’s a 1.5x return on a £20 deposit-and-bet, and one condition sets it apart from everything else here: winnings from the free bet must be wagered once before you can withdraw them, with a £200 cap on what converts to cash. UK free bets are almost always no-wagering, so this is the thing to understand before you claim.
The free bet is a single £30 stake at minimum odds of 1.5, which is an easy bar, and you deposit through the sports cashier. Everything then runs on a tight 7-day clock, and any withdrawal request voids active bonuses. It’s a casino-led sportsbook on the ProgressPlay network, and the wagering requirement plus the conversion cap are why it sits at the foot of the table despite the £30 headline.
- Low minimum odds of 1.5 on the free bet
- £30 single free bet, the largest single token among the smaller offers
- Up to five free-bet bonuses a month for existing accounts
- Free-bet winnings must be wagered once before withdrawal, with a £200 conversion cap
- 7-day expiry on the bonus and any winnings
- A withdrawal request voids active and pending bonuses
Best betting sign up offers by sport
The sport you bet on should dictate which offer you pick. If you’re comparing football betting sign up offers specifically, you’ll want free bets that aren’t locked to singles if you mainly play accas on Saturdays.
A racing-focused punter doesn’t care about a Bet Builder restriction. And for sports with no dedicated free bet from any operator, the most flexible betting sign up offers are usually the smartest choice.
| Sport/bet type | Best bookmaker | Offer details |
|---|---|---|
| Football (singles) | Paddy Power | £40 unrestricted sports free bet at a £5 entry cost; singles permitted |
| Football (Bet Builders) | Sky Bet | 3 × £10 BuildABet free bets specifically for football + 100% boost token capped at £25 stake |
| Football (accas) | Betfred | £30 in open sports free bets plus £20 in Bet Builder bonuses |
| Football (World Cup 2026) | Virgin Bet | Free Bet Builder on every England game during the tournament |
| Horse racing | Coral & William Hill | Coral has a dedicated racing bet builder free bet; William Hill includes free Racing TV |
| Tennis | NetBet | 1 × £5 free bet specifically allocated to Tennis In-Play |
| Exchange betting | Betfair or easyBet | Welcome tokens plus exchange markets; easyBet competes on lower commissions (1%) |
| Spread betting | SpreadEx | £30 in fixed-odds free bets plus football Total Goals and racing favourites spread tokens |
| Darts | bet365 | Bet credits usable on any sport with no market restriction |
| Snooker | Betfred | Sports free bets valid on any sportsbook market; Betfred streams snooker in-app |
| Esports | BOYLE Sports | Single £40 free bet with no sport restriction; 44 sports covered |
| UFC/MMA | Paddy Power & bet365 | No sport-locked free bet exists; pick the most flexible unrestricted offer |
For sports where no operator offers a sport-specific free bet token, the best strategy is simply to take the offer with the widest flexibility. Paddy Power and bet365 both deliver some of the best free bets for this, fully unrestricted by sport or qualifying bet.
What to check before you sign up and claim free bets
Our five scoring criteria double up as your own checklist for spotting one of the best betting offers:
- Value: What do you actually get back? Paddy Power’s 8x beats Betfred’s 5x even though Betfred’s total looks bigger on paper.
- Achievability: How hard is the qualifying bet? bet365’s 1/5 floor is easy to clear; most others ask for evens.
- Flexibility: Locked to one sport or bet type, or usable anywhere? William Hill, BOYLE Sports and bet365 all hand over free bets with no sport or bet-type lock, though bet365 still excludes a specific list like Tote and Lotto.
- Time windows: How long until it expires? Betfair and Paddy Power give you 30 days; most others give 7.
- Transparency: Any traps in the small print? BetMGM’s £10 headline hides an each-way catch, stake on both sides, and it’s £20 total, not £10.
Most punters claim these offers from their phone these days rather than a browser. Betting app sign up offers run on exactly the same terms as the desktop versions, so it makes no difference which one you use.
Free bet types explained
Most of the best betting offers come down to two bets: the one you place to qualify, and the free bet you get back. Whether either one counts depends entirely on its bet type, which is exactly where most people get caught out. Here’s what to check before you stake anything.
How does a single bet work?
A single is one bet on one selection. Betfred, Sky Bet and William Hill all require your qualifying bet to be a single, so a multiple won’t trigger any of those three offers.
What does each-way mean?
An each-way bet actually combines two bets, one on the win, one on the place. That means the stake usually doubles, so a £10 each-way bet costs £20 total, not £10, which matters when you’re checking an offer’s minimum stake.
What counts as an accumulator (acca)?
An accumulator combines several selections into one bet, and every single leg has to win for it to pay out. NetBet’s football acca free bet needs at least 4 legs to use, while its horse racing acca only needs 2.
When does a bet count as a multiple?
A multiple is the broader category covering any bet with more than one selection, accumulators included. Sky Bet allows multiples as a qualifying bet, while Betfair restricts its free bets to multiples, accas and Bet Builders only, so a single bet won’t work there at all.
What is a Bet Builder?
A Bet Builder lets you combine several markets from the same match, goals, cards, corners, into a single bet. Betfred ring-fences £20 of its offer for this specifically, and BetMGM and NetBet both do the same with part of theirs, each setting its own separate odds requirement on top.
System bets and why do welcome offers often exclude them
System bets are fixed combination bets that split your selections into several smaller bets automatically. A Trixie covers 3 selections across 4 bets, a Yankee covers 4 across 11, and a Lucky 15 covers the same 4 across 15.
That structure makes it harder for an operator to pin down one clear qualifying bet, which is likely why several offers leave them out. Paddy Power excludes these from its free bet entirely, and Betfair goes further, excluding nine different system bet types outright.
Licensing and responsible gambling
Every operator on this page holds a UK Gambling Commission licence, checked against the public register before inclusion.
Welcome offers are designed to be attractive, but that’s not a reason to bet beyond what you’re comfortable losing. Every operator listed offers free deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion via GAMSTOP, which applies across all UKGC-licensed sites for a minimum of six months. Free support is available from GamCare and BeGambleAware, and the National Gambling Helpline is open 24 hours on 0808 8020 133.
This page contains affiliate links, and TNT Sports may earn commission if you sign up through them. That doesn’t affect which offers are included or how they’re scored.
Best betting sign up offers FAQ
Paddy Power, Coral, Ladbrokes and bet365 currently top our rankings. Paddy Power leads on value with an 8x return on a £5 stake. Coral and Ladbrokes match that £5 stake with a 6x return, bet £5, get £30. bet365 rounds out the top four with the easiest qualifying bet on the page, a 1/5 odds floor.
Betfair and Betfred pay £50, the biggest headline total on this page, though each needs a £10 qualifying bet at evens or above. Paddy Power pays less in total but returns the highest multiple on your stake, at 8 times your £5 bet.
Sky Bet locks its entire £40 reward to football, split across three BuildABet tokens and one acca tokens. Betfred splits its offer differently, with £30 in open sports tokens plus a further £20 ring-fenced for its Bet Builder specifically.
Most operators require you to place the qualifying bet before requesting any withdrawal. If you deposit, withdraw part of the balance and then bet, the offer is voided. Always place the qualifying bet first, let it settle, and only then request withdrawals.
No. Free-bet stakes are never returned with winnings. If you place a £10 free bet at 4/1 and it wins, you receive £40 in profit, not £50. This applies to every operator on this list without exception.
It depends on the operator. Sky Bet explicitly confirms that each-way bets qualify. bet365’s terms also permit them. However, it’s important to always check the specific terms before placing an each-way wager as your qualifier.
Your free bets are still credited. The qualifying bet just needs to settle; win or lose doesn’t affect the bonus. Losing the qualifier is the expected outcome, which is why the best betting offers have low qualifying stakes: you’re trading a likely £5 or £10 loss for £30 to £50 in free-bet tokens.
No. Welcome offers are restricted to new customers only. Operators verify this via your name, date of birth, address and payment method. Creating a second account to claim a welcome bonus a second time is a breach of terms and will result in account closure and forfeiture of any winnings.
Some operators allow it, but the cash-out value is typically reduced because the original free-bet stake isn’t factored in. Check each operator’s terms individually.
Yes. Every operator on this page runs the same betting app sign up offers through its app as it does through the desktop site, so claiming via the Paddy Power app or the bet365 app gets you identical terms to the ones covered above.
