Liverpool vs Fulham top tip: Over 2.5 home goals

Liverpool have put in two assured performances over the last week, beating Ipswich 2-0 at Portman Road before overcoming Atletico Madrid 2-1 at Anfield in the Champions League.

A trending theme across all four of Liverpool's competitive matches this season has been the number of goals scored in each match. The Reds have netted exactly two goals in all four of their matches, and it would be a shock if they didn't at least match that against Fulham.

The reason we're backing them to go one better and breach the three-goal barrier this afternoon is due to Fulham's poor start to life under Alvaro Arbeloa.

The Cottagers have lost all three of their Premier League matches so far, and have conceded three goals in two of them.

Liverpool vs Fulham: KEY NUMBERS
7
The number of Premier League goals conceded by Fulham this season.
8
The number of goals scored by Liverpool in all competitions this season.
11
The number of goals scored by Liverpool across their last five meetings with Fulham.
3
The number of Prmeier League goals scored by Alexander Isak this season.
TOP TIP Over 2.5 home goals.

Liverpool vs Fulham correct score tip: Liverpool 3-1 Fulham

Liverpool have looked excellent going forward under Iraola, while Fulham's defensive shape is regularly getting the trouble. In other words, this is a match made in heaven for the likes of Alexander Isak, Bradley Barcola and Florian Wirtz.

The Reds also have an impressive home record against Fulham. The Cottagers have won just one match here since 2012, and that was when matches were being played behind closed doors due to the COVID pandemic.

We anticipate Fulham getting on the scoresheet, as the Cottagers have scored at least once in three of their four competitive outings this season.

Liverpool vs Fulham other tips

  • Both teams to score: Liverpool have kept just one clean sheet this season.
  • Alexander Isak to score anytime: Isak is averaging a goal a game in the Premier League this season.

Chelsea vs Hull City top tip: Both teams to score

Fresh from their thrilling comeback win over Leeds in the Carabao Cup third round, Chelsea will take on Hull City this afternoon with a view to leapfrogging the Tigers into third position.

Chelsea have been an interesting watch under Xabi Alonso thus far, with very little making sense. On one hand, they are the team with the second-lowest average possession in the Premier League, but on the other they have recorded the sixth-most shots.

They are undoubtedly stronger going forward than they are defending their goal and have now scored 15 goals in all competitions, while conceding 10 during the same period.

Hull City have already shown they are capable of scoring against top opposition this season, with the Tigers netting twice against Manchester United on the opening day of the season.

Chelsea vs Hull City: KEY NUMBERS
7
The number of points Hull City have won so far in the Premier League – only Man City and Arsenal have more.
36.5
Chelsea's average possession this season – only Hull have lower.
7
Chelsea's current winning streak over Hull City.
4
The number of goals Cole Palmer has scored so far this season.
TOP TIP Both teams to score.

Chelsea vs Hull City correct score tip: Chelsea 2-1 Hull City

Although Hull City have hardly been prolific in front of goal this season (zero goals scored in either of their last two matches), Chelsea's leaky defence should present a few opportunities to the Tigers.

It will also be interesting to watch how Chelsea fare as the team with most of the ball. The Blues have operated with under 50% possession in all three of their league matches so far, but Hull will be happy to surrender possession this afternoon.

That will mean Chelsea will have fewer gaps to exploit, which is why we've gone relatively conservative with just two home goals predicted.

Chelsea vs Hull City other tips

  • Over 2.5 goals: More than two goals have been scored in all three of Chelsea's Premier League matches this season.
  • Cole Palmer to score anytime: Palmer came off the bench to score twice against Leeds on Wednesday night.

Sunderland vs Arsenal top tip: Under 2.5 goals

This Arsenal team have the experience and quality to cope with difficult away matches, but they are unlikely to blow Sunderland away tonight, with the Black Cats a tough test for anyone at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland's biggest problem to solve tonight is finding out a way to score against Arsenal. The Gunners have conceded just one goal in five competitive outings this season, and that was against Chelsea, the league's highest scorers.

Sunderland are not Chelsea, and have scored just three Premier League goals this season, roughly in line with the 42 they scored across 38 matches last season.

The Black Cats' strengths lie in their organisation and defensive shape, but Mikel Arteta will be confident that his side can win by scoring just once.

Sunderland vs Arsenal: KEY NUMBERS
8
Sunderland haven't conceded more than one goal in any of their last eight competitive matches.
1
Just one of Sunderland's four matches this season has produced more than two goals.
2012
The last time Sunderland beat Arsenal.
3
The number of goals Kai Havertz has scored so far this season.
TOP TIP Under 2.5 goals.

Sunderland vs Arsenal correct score tip: Sunderland 0-1 Arsenal

“One nil to the Arsenal” is something we have become accustomed to over the last couple of years, and we are predicting another one here.

This was the scoreline in Arsenal's only other Premier League away match this season, a hard-fought win over Aston Villa a couple of weeks ago, and Sunderland are arguably better defensively than the Villans.

Scoring past this Arsenal defence is difficult – Aston Villa, Man City and Napoli have all failed to do this season. It's unrealistic to expect Sunderland to fare better than any of those three teams.

Sunderland vs Arsenal other tips

  • Over 2.5 goals: More than two goals have been scored in all three of Chelsea's Premier League matches this season.
  • Kai Havertz to score anytime: Havertz has scored three goals in four starts this season.

Yesterday's tips

  • West Ham vs Wolves: Correctly predicted West Ham to win, over 2.5 goals and Jarrod Bowen to score anytime.
  • Sevilla vs Valencia: Correctly predicted Sevilla 1-0 Valencia.
