Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, Como
Wednesday 21 October, 5:45pm UK time (6:45pm local)
Como host Manchester United in the Champions League on Wednesday, with Cesc Fabregas' side looking to follow up Sunday's win in Florence at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
Michael Carrick's United arrive at Lake Como without a win in six games and in desperate need of a result, with kick-off at 5:45pm UK time (6:45pm local).
Como vs Manchester United preview and form
Como arrive after a 3-1 triumph over Fiorentina, with Mattia Liberali, Nico Paz and Anastasios Douvikas all scoring to leave the team fifth in Serie A.
That victory ended a three-game winless run featuring defeats in Frosinone and Rotterdam, either side of a goalless stalemate with Roma.
Como opened their league phase with an impressive 4-1 home win against RB Leipzig, with Martin Baturina, Douvikas, Assane Diao and Maximo Perrone all on the scoresheet.
The Blue and Whites then lost 3-2 against Feyenoord at De Kuip, where Diao gave them an early lead before leaving injured and Douvikas scored again in stoppage time as a late consolation.
As things stand, Como sit 12th in the league phase table, one place above United, with both sides on three points and a goal difference of plus two.
Carrick took over in January after Ruben Amorim was sacked, lifted United from seventh to third and back into the Champions League, and was made permanent boss in May on a contract to 2028.
However, the former Red Devils midfielder has struggled this season, and his team are currently in the midst of a dire winless run that started with a 1-0 defeat to derby rivals Man City and includes a 3-2 home defeat to Brighton, draws at Craven Cottage and against Tottenham, a 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid and a 1-1 draw in Leeds on Sunday.
That sequence has left them 13th in the Premier League with only one win from their first seven games.
In Europe, United opened with a 4-0 home win against Sabah before losing in Madrid, where Leny Yoro was shown a red card that means he misses this trip.
Captain Bruno Fernandes remains the Mancunians' talisman, and if they are to find a way out of their slump, then he represents the most likely route.
That being said, the number eight has not scored or assisted for United since the victory over Sabah on September 10.
On Sunday, Bryan Mbeumo gave Carrick's side the lead against Leeds from a Youri Tielemans pass, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalised from a corner in the 51st minute and the visitors could not find a second goal.
Surrendering points from winning positions has been a feature of the Red Devils' recent results, most notably when they allowed 10-man Tottenham to snatch a draw at Old Trafford, a pattern that suggests one goal is unlikely to be enough to secure victory in Como.
Team news and predicted lineups for Como vs Manchester United
Como team news
Diao is out with a hamstring injury, having been forced off in the first half in Rotterdam last Wednesday.
Trevoh Chalobah went off injured in the 14th minute in Florence and Fabregas has said he should be out for around two weeks, while Moise Kean is also unavailable.
Twenty-year-old Jesus Rodriguez Caraballo is out as well, having picked up an injury during a shooting drill in training that his manager described as “Pretty serious.”
Robert Sanchez started in Rotterdam, where a deflection off his back gave Feyenoord their third goal, but Jean Butez played against Leipzig and in Florence and is expected to start again.
With Chalobah out, Marc-Oliver Kempf and Jacobo Ramon are expected to form the central pairing, with Yan Couto at right-back and Alex Valle at left-back.
Fabregas is expected to stay with a 4-2-3-1, with Douvikas leading the line, Paz behind him and Liberali and Baturina either side.

Yoro serves a one-match UEFA suspension for his red card in Madrid, which leaves Carrick short of options at centre-back.
Shaw, Rashford, Martinez and Mainoo are all listed as doubts, but none of the four were spotted in training on Tuesday, making them unlikely to feature.
Martinez came off at half-time in Leeds with a thigh problem, while Ayden Heaven is also a doubt, but with illness the issue rather than an injury.
That points to a potential return for Matthijs de Ligt, who will be rusty in the back four alongside Harry Maguire, flanked by Noussair Mazraoui at right-back and Diogo Dalot at left-back, with Patrick Dorgu out.
Manuel Ugarte is sidelined long term, which leaves Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba in the holding midfield roles, with Tielemans, Fernandes and Matheus Cunha ahead of them and Mbeumo up front.

Head-to-head: Como vs Manchester United
Wednesday's game is the first meeting between the clubs in any competition, so there is no past scoreline to read across.
What the two sides do share is a record, with one league phase win and one defeat each leaving both on three points with a goal difference of plus two.
Another shared similarity is that Fabregas and Carrick are both managing clubs they played for in years gone by, having qualified for the Champions League by exceeding expectations last season.
With no history to analyse, the more useful guide is Europe so far, where Como have scored six and conceded four while United have scored four and conceded two.
