Craven Cottage, London
Saturday 7 November, 3pm
Fulham host Newcastle United at Craven Cottage on Saturday at 3pm, with Alvaro Arbeloa's side unbeaten in three Premier League games after a winless start and Matthias Jaissle's visitors trying to stop a slide of three defeats in their last five.
Fulham are only two points above the bottom three and Newcastle four points ahead, so a defeat for either side could pull them closer to the drop zone.
Fulham vs Newcastle preview and form guide
Fulham were bottom of the table on 14 October after failing to win any of their first six league games, but Arbeloa's first victory, 1-0 against Hull on 17 October, began a run of two wins and a draw.
Both wins finished 1-0, with Alex Iwobi scoring against Hull and Oscar Bobb scoring against Coventry, and they account for the only two clean sheets Fulham have kept in their last five league games.
Fulham fell behind before half-time at Villa Park on 31 October and levelled through an own goal, ending a run of seven straight defeats at the ground, and Arbeloa said he was “so happy with our performance in the second half”.
The home record is less encouraging, with Fulham winning one, drawing one and losing two of their four league games at Craven Cottage while conceding 1.75 goals per game.
Fulham have scored exactly once in each of their last five league games, which was enough for two wins and two draws but not against Ipswich, who won 2-1 on 10 October.
Jaissle was appointed in August on a four-year deal to replace Eddie Howe, after winning back-to-back Asian Champions League titles with Al-Ahli, and his Premier League debut was a 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
Newcastle have won two and lost three of their last five league games, including a 4-1 loss to Coventry, a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa and a 1-0 loss to Everton, when Jacob Ramsey was sent off in stoppage time for a second yellow card.
Supporters booed at half-time and full-time on Monday, four days after a 3-1 EFL Cup defeat at Everton in which Newcastle trailed 3-0 before Dan Burn scored late.
On the road, Newcastle have won two and lost two of their four league games and scored all six of their goals after half-time.
Fulham have scored four of their six home league goals before the break, so the hosts have the more obvious route to an early lead.

Team news and predicted lineups: Fulham vs Newcastle
Fulham team news
Fulham have no reported injury absences, and Ryan Sessegnon is available again after serving a three-match ban for the stoppage-time red card he received against Hull on 17 October.
Sessegnon is likely to return to the bench rather than the starting eleven, as Antonee Robinson is the established left-back and the side that began at Villa Park is expected to be unchanged.
Gonzalo Garcia, one of two players Arbeloa knew from Real Madrid's academy, is expected to lead the line again ahead of Rodrigo Muniz.
Joshua King, 19, has scored twice at Craven Cottage in the league and is expected to play behind Garcia again.
Tom Cairney, back from a knee injury, has been used as a substitute against Hull and at Villa Park and remains an option from the bench.
Fulham predicted lineup vs Newcastle
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Castagne, Affengruber, Bassey, Robinson; Charles, Berge; Bobb, King, Iwobi; Garcia
Newcastle team news
Joelinton is out after being replaced through injury against Everton, and Newcastle have given no return date for their vice-captain.
Jacob Ramsey serves a one-match ban after being sent off for a second yellow card in stoppage time against Everton, and he will be eligible again when Arsenal visit St James' Park on 21 November.
Tino Livramento and goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen remain out, while Lewis Miley is improving and Matias Fernandez-Pardo is training again after a virus, so both are doubts.
That leaves Sean Steur as the likeliest partner for Nico Gonzalez in midfield, and Jaissle has said Steur “has so much potential” and that Newcastle must find a way for him to play more minutes.
William Osula twisted an ankle in the EFL Cup tie at Everton but started on Monday and is expected to lead the line, with Yoane Wissa the alternative.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Hornicek; Dedic, Burn, Schar, Hall; Steur, Gonzalez; Elanga, Willock, Barnes; Osula
Head-to-head: Fulham vs Newcastle
Fulham won the most recent meeting 2-0 at Craven Cottage on 24 May, but Newcastle took the two before that, both 2-1, in the league last October and in the EFL Cup quarter-final last December.
Newcastle lead the all-time record with 36 wins to Fulham's 34 across 85 meetings, and draws are rare lately, with none in the last 10 and Newcastle winning seven of them.
At Craven Cottage in those 10 meetings Newcastle have won three games and Fulham two, though none involved Arbeloa or Jaissle, who took charge in July and August.
