Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham
Key Stat
Chelsea have conceded in six of their seven Premier League games
Top Tip
Under 3.5 goals

Xabi Alonso's Chelsea will look to push closer to the top three with a victory against fierce rivals Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, while Spurs head to west London hoping to prove that they do not belong with teams at the foot of the Premier League table.

Chelsea are fourth with 13 points from seven games, whereas Spurs' 3-1 win against Coventry City on Monday moved them onto just six points, though they are at least 17th and above the bottom three.

Chelsea are yet to experience defeat in any of their five home games in all competitions this season, winning four times and drawing once, though they have conceded six goals in their three Premier League outings at Stamford Bridge.

At the other end of the pitch, the Blues netted on 19 occasions in those five home matches, including the five they scored in a 5-1 win against Bournemouth on October 10.

The hosts' overall form has been somewhat more mixed considering they have failed to win two of their last four fixtures, although they have triumphed in their two most recent league games, the latest of which was a 2-0 success against Everton last weekend.

Pedro Neto scored both goals against Everton, and the fact he has been able to add an attacking threat from a wing-back role has made the Blues an even more frightening prospect in the final third.

Joao Pedro has scored five goals in the league, Morgan Rogers has netted four and Cole Palmer has netted two, and the trio have formed arguably the Premier League's best frontline.

Tottenham's triumph over Coventry was far from comfortable, with the visitors levelling through Jack Rudoni four minutes after the interval before Omar Marmoush scored his first goal for the club to put Spurs back in front, and Ben Davies then sealed the victory in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

While Roberto De Zerbi admitted that his side were far from their best during that clash, he will be delighted that his team have finally won their first league game of 2026-27.

The club had failed to win any of their opening six Premier League matches, losing three times and scoring just three times, so fans will hope that their victory against Coventry can inspire the team to more triumphs in the coming weeks and months.

Another positive to emerge from Monday's contest was the return of attacker Dejan Kulusevski, who came on as a late substitute after 526 days out of action, though it may be some time before he is able to start.

Their league travels have seen them lose 3-0 away to Brentford, draw 0-0 with Nottingham Forest and settle for a 1-1 stalemate with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Emi Martinez fractured his jaw in a collision during the win over Everton and is expected to return in November, which leaves Mike Penders, the Belgian who replaced him in that game, as the likely starter.

Malo Gusto missed the game against Everton with illness but has recovered, while Pep Chavarria was withdrawn from the squad for that game with a knock and will miss out on Saturday, so Jorrel Hato is expected to continue at left wing-back.

Reece James is out until the new year after knee surgery, Jamie Gittens is a few weeks away with an ankle problem and Emanuel Emegha is yet to make his debut because of a hamstring injury.

Alonso is otherwise able to name the same starting XI that began the win over Everton, with Penders for Martinez the only change.

Rodrigo Bentancur will serve the second game of a three-match suspension after his red card against Manchester United, and Spurs will also be without Xavi Simons, Wilson Odobert, Lucas Bergvall, Savio and Mykhailo Mudryk, the Chelsea-owned winger on loan at the club.

Pedro Porro has been out with a hamstring problem since September 19 but De Zerbi has said that the defender is available, while Destiny Udogie could be ready next week.

Tosin Adarabioyo and Andy Robertson both came off late against Coventry, and while De Zerbi has confirmed that Robertson is available, Adarabioyo faces a late fitness test before the game against his former club.

Marmoush also cramped late on against Coventry, though De Zerbi has said there is no injury, so the front four of Dominic Solanke, Mohammed Kudus, James Maddison and Marmoush that started that game is expected to stay together.

Chelsea have won each of the last six Premier League meetings, scoring 14 goals and conceding five, a run that began with a 4-1 away win in November 2023.

The most recent was a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge on May 19, which followed a 1-0 away win on November 1, 2025.

Tottenham's last league win in the fixture came on February 26, 2023, a 2-0 home victory, although they did win a pre-season friendly in Sydney 2-1 on August 1.

Each of the last four league meetings between the two clubs has been decided by a single goal, and it would not be surprising if Saturday's clash was similarly tense.

Our Chelsea vs Tottenham prediction and betting tips

Top Tip
Under 3.5 goals
Odds 1.67
All three of Tottenham's away league games have finished with three goals or fewer, and five of their seven league games overall have stayed within that margin. The two games that featured more than three goals, against Aston Villa and Coventry, both came at home.
Value Bet
Joao Pedro to score anytime
Odds 2.20
Joao Pedro has had 16 shots in six league starts and leads Chelsea's scorers, and he faces a Spurs side that has kept only two clean sheets in seven league games.
Longshot
Chelsea to win 2-1 (correct score)
Odds 9.50
Chelsea have scored at least twice in five of their seven league games, while Tottenham have conceded in five of theirs. Chelsea have only kept one clean sheet in the league, so a narrow victory at home seems possible.
Free Choice
Palmer to score or assist
Odds 2.15
Palmer has been directly involved in five Premier League goals, scoring two and setting up three, while he has taken the most shots per 90 (3.3) of any Chelsea player in the Premier League, so it would not be surprising if he contributed directly in the final third.

Odds correct as of Friday, 23 October 2026, 05:05 BST.

Our prediction
Chelsea 2-1 Tottenham
Chelsea have scored 11 goals in three league games at Stamford Bridge and have outscored Tottenham 10 to six across their last five league games. Spurs' six league goals have all arrived in their last three games after none in the first four, so they could score once but they are unlikely to be able to match the Blues' firepower.
  • Neto scored both goals against Everton and will start at right wing-back barring a late change.
  • Joao Pedro leads Chelsea's Premier League scoring charts this season with five goals.
  • Maddison scored the opener against Coventry and was influential behind Solanke for Spurs in that clash.
