Drivers back in the cars, plenty of feverish activity as the race preapres to resume. There are just spots of rain now - that's no great problem - it's the standing water which is the key issue now.
10:05
The rain easing - the gazebos are coming down. When the race resumes, it may not be long before the drivers have to make a call on switching to intermediate tyres.

And that's what WILL happen - Race will restart in 15 minutes behind the safety car - and cars MUST fit wet tyres.

They can restart the race behind the safety car. That's a compromise as the track dries out.
09:58
There's a car bombing down the track! It's the safety car, though - sorry. They're having a look at the track to see what the water levels are like elsewhere.
09:56
Within that, the sun sets in Malaysia in two hours, 25 minutes, and there are no floodlights in Sepang. So although there's a four-hour window, nature will intervene.
09:55
What we do know: The race must take no more than four hours. And the racing itself (not this bit while we're sat around) must be completed in two hours. So there is time.
09:53
The rain is definitely lighter. If it were raining like this before the red flag, there wouldn't have been a red flag. But the water that's already on track is another factor to bear in mind.
09:50
Word from the pit lane is that the rain is easing off. That may be true, but that means it's gone from very rainy to still pretty rainy.
09:47
The radar is suggesting that it could be another 15 minutes and then the track could dry quite quickly. There'd be standing water to clear, but very little dries out a track quite like 20-odd F1 cars pounding across it at regular intervals.
09:45
I thought I might be talking to you about tyre degradation today. Suffice to say, that's not exactly been the key issue so far.
09:43
Vettel told that the race 'could be done on a drying track' and that means thinking about gear ratios and the rear wing.
09:40
The rain still coming down heavily. The drivers are kicking back, helmets off, away from the track or beside their cars. With the gazebos up over the cars, some cruel folks have branded this the world's most expensive car boot sale.
09:40
The drivers will get a notification of five or 10 minutes or so before the race resumes. But there's no sign of that for now.
-
Gazebos are being erected over the cars - so somehow the cars are staying dry while the rain pings down.
-
Vergne, who'd done remarkably to drag his Toro Rosso around in intermediates, could be an even bigger winner at the restart - he's allowed to change tyres without penalty from this position.

In the meantime, a reminder that you can join me on Twitter @Mark_Eurosport and talk about racing, or, perhaps more appropriately, the weather.

Round we go - the drivers back in position. Stick around here, and I'll keep you up to date with what happens next.

That means the race is suspended until conditions improve. The cars park up on the grid and we'll have another start should we have better weather.

No - we can't go on - it's a RED FLAG!

Hamilton told over the radio that 30 minutes of rain is predicted. Half an hour behind the safety car? Grab yourself a good book and I'll shout when we're racing again...
