Switzerland are starting to control the possession in the centre of the pitch, but they're not really doing all that much with it in the final third. Good defensive shape from Sweden.

Lichtsteiner is missing for Switzerland this afternoon. The new Arsenal signing is a very important figure in the dressing room, so will the Swiss miss him for this game?

The tempo and intensity of this game has already started to slow down. The two teams are just feeling each other out. There's a lot riding on this match for Sweden and Switzerland.

Shaqiri and Xhaka are perhaps lucky to be playing this game. It was raised after the game against Serbia that they could have been banned for the Kosovan gesures they made.

WHIPPED! Shaqiri cuts inside and whips a wicked left footed cross into the Swedish penalty area. It flashes just over the head of Drmic in the middle and out for a goal kick.

Sweden have made the better start to the game, although that might be down to the way Switzerland have began. Already a couple of chances for the Swedes in the first few minutes.

ANOTHER SWEDEN CHANCE! Switzerland almost played themselves into trouble there. The goal kick was played straight to a Sweden player, but Akanji makes the block.

BERG CHANCE! The Swedish striker should have done so much better with that opportunity. He was played in behind, but Berg sliced his effort well wide of the target in the end.

The build up to this tournament for Sweden was dominated by talk of Ibrahimovic and whether he would come out of retirement. But they have shown they are better off without him.

Xhaka has enjoyed a good World Cup to date. The midfielder has recently signed a new contract with Arsenal and he has shown his quality for Switzerland over the past few games.

Sweden showed some real character to bounce back from their defeat to Germany to see off Mexico in their final group game to make the last 16 of the World Cup. Real spirit.

An early test of the Swiss backline as Sweden swing a freekick into the penalty area. Switzerland have had to change two members of their defence, but they pass this early test.

An early slip from a Swedish defender gives Shaqiri the chance to shoot on goal from distance, but he gets his angles wrong and sends his shot wide of the target. Setting sights.

We're under way in Saint Petersburg! It's Sweden against Switzerland in the World Cup last 16.

Who do you fancy to win this one? It could go either way. Switzerland might be the stronger side on paper, but Sweden have a great team unit. This should be an interesting one.

Forsberg will be one of the main men for Sweden this afternoon. The RB Leipzig attacker has enjoyed a good World Cup to date, but he must show more of a cutting edge.
