Sweden did just enough in the end to get through! Switzerland dominated much of the match and the possession, but Sweden made the most of their chances. They will face one of either Colombia or England in the next round. They are a tough team to break down and they will be a force in the latter rounds of this tournament.

FULL TIME: Sweden 1-0 Switzerland. SWEDEN ARE THROUGH TO THE WORLD CUP QUARTER FINALS!

TOIVONEN ON TARGET! It was a good freekick effort by Toivonen, with Sommer making the save to deny him. It was on target, but straight at the Swiss goalkeeper.

DECISION REVERSED! The freekick has been awarded rather than the penalty kick. Good use of VAR, that. Replays showed that the foul took place outside of the box.

SENT OFF! It was Lang who brought down Olsson as he raced through on goal and he has been shown a red card. This match is over for Switzerland, although there's now a VAR review.

PENALTY KICK TO SWEDEN! Olsson was clean through on the break, it was the last chance of the match and he's brought down inside the area.

HEADER ON TARGET! Was that the chance for Switzerland? Seferovic lept highest to get on the end of a cross into the box, but Olsen makes the save down low to deny him.

One final change for Sweden, with Thelin coming on for the team who are leading.

Three minutes of stoppage time to be played at the end of the match.

Credit to Switzerland, they have really stepped it up since going behind. But they have been lacking in quality in the final third. So many good chances to get a shot away have been wasted.

GREAT WORK! That was a fantastic cross by Rodriguez, who did really well to create the space for the delivery. But there was nobody in red at the back post and he has to settle for a corner.

On this long road, Sweden have beaten Netherlands in qualifying, they saw off Italy in the play-offs and then finished ahead of Germany in their group. They're now close to knocking out Switzerland as well.

Embolo is certainly giving Sweden something to think about. He is a very direct runner and he is driving into the penalty area. Should he have come on earlier in the game?

And another change for Sweden. It's Lustig who comes off and he is replaced by Krafth.

The goalscorer Forsberg comes off for Sweden and he will be replaced by Olsson.

Time is running out for Switzerland. They have had plenty of the ball, but Sweden have done a really good job in plugging the gaps at the back and absorbing the pressure.

BLOCKED ON THE LINE! Close to an equaliser for Switzerland. Embolo bundles a header towards goal, but Forsberg was on hand to block and then Granqvist clears the danger!

Switzerland are starting to crank up the pressure. Sweden are camped inside their own box, although they are doing a decent job of repelling cross after cross being slung in.
