Arsenal break, Mkhitaryan in all manner of space in the middle of the pitch. Bellerin streaks down the right to help him, so naturally he drills a shot into the nearest defender.
7'
Redmond takes an early ball down the left and looks up, crossing low; Koscielny gets a foot in and Torreira completes the clearance.

But here we go! Guendouzi looks up and clips a very nice ball over the top for Aubameyang, who's pulled off the dosing Yoshida. He leaps to control, forcing himself wide and allowing McCarthy to set; the shot is beaten away easily enough.
5'
It's been an extremely sedate start.
4'
Redmond finds space on the left and Xhaka goes over, so a square pass is snapped into the middle, seeking Ings. Koscielny intercepts.
3'
i think Arsenal are indeed playing three at the back, with Xhaka in the middle of them. If Southampton have any sense, they'll look to have Ings pin him and try and get in between the wide centre-backs and wing-backs.
2'
This rig is really very disgraceful.

An early foul on Guendouzi. I missed who it was buy because my picture lagged but I guess that's the kind of thing Arsenal can expect.

Away we go!
13:30
Alan Smith seems to think Arsenal will win.
13:28
Sky reckon Xhaka is playing centre-back with Lichsteiner and Koscielny.
13:27
Flamethrowers! Import!
13:27
Here they come!
13:26
Yon players are tunnelled. That mint green Arsenal kit is absolutely horrific.
13:22
Penetrating.
13:19
Of course, Keane isn't especially impressed with Arsenal. The thing with them is that they're improved and improving, but will still probably finish fifth and need a lot of work to get anywhere worth going to.
13:16
Virgil van Dyk then. He's being discussed on telly, but I don't quite get him. I'm not saying he's not decent, but come on. He's not in the same league as Ferdinand, Vidic, Stam, Campbell, Terry and Carvalho.
13:10
I don't mind the look of this Southampton team. Men in defence, two more men in front of that, and then three committed to attack in front of them. They'll need the wing-backs to supply width, but if they're prepared to be brave, there's joy to be had against Arsenal whose defence is dodgy even with everyone available.
13:07
On Sky, Roy Keane has just had a loosening rant about how players need to be focused on football. "I don't think if I ever went on the pitch and had a bad game I looked at the manager and thought 'That's your fault'," he said.
I'm not certain he knows a whole lot about having bad games, given he hardly ever did. I've not seen many players with a higher bottom level than him.
13:04
Man uses eyes.

In particular, Lucas Torreira has been a great signing. I'm not sure he'll keep scoring, but he's strengthened them in an area that's been weak for years, and he's reliable. I'm not sure there were any better signings made by anyone last summer, especially at the price.
