The last time West Ham came from behind to win in the Premier League was in December of 2012, but the chances of history repeating itself today isn't particularly likely.

The second half is under way. Chelsea kick off.

Referee Chris Foy blows his whistle to bring the first half to an end.

Chelsea aren’t letting up here. Time and time again they move forward, shifting the ball across the field, unlocking the West Ham defence. Oscar gets down the right and sends a devilish ball into the penalty area – it fizzing past everyone six yards from goal and rolling to safety.

Morrison bursts out of his half and goes one-on-one with Azpilicueta. Downing is supporting down the right and really should receive the ball but Morrison opts to go it alone and is tackled by the full-back.

Wonderful save from Jaaskelainen. Eto’o and Hazard exchange a neat one-two on the right – the Cameroonian cutting inside as they do so. Eto’o attempts to find the top corner with a curled first-time effort, but the West Ham keeper flies to his left, palming the ball over the bar.

A bold move from Allardyce, but the hosts may as well go for it now. He’s taken the chance and it could pay off. Either way, it couldn’t have been much worse than it was. Upton Park is eerily quiet.

West Ham make a double, yes double, substitution. Joe Cole is replaced by Mo Diame and Jack Collison is replaced by Modibo Maida.

Ramires threads the ball through the eye of a needle, playing in Hazard but the Belgian slips on the edge of the penalty area. It was a magnificent ball and that would have been game over, if it isn’t already.

Ivanovic pulls down Morrison on the left touchline, and West Ham have a chance to whip a decent ball into the box here.

With a little less than ten minutes to go before half-time, Allardyce is talking to his staff and it must be regarding a change. They need to revert to plan B – if there is a plan B at all.

There can’t be a way back for the hosts now, surely? Without a striker on the pitch, they’ve looked devoid of any idea in front of goal.

GOAL! Very, very easy for Chelsea. Lampard, inside his own half, feeds Hazard who draws in Collins to roll the ball into the path of Oscar. The Brazilian bears down on goal and with no challenge coming, shoots from 20 yards – beating Jaaskelainen down at his right-hand post.

Downing’s poor corner is cleared at the front post, and is cleared to some distance, too. Allardyce’s men are going to need to be better from set-pieces. They’ll get very few chances to score from open play today and will need to take advantage of those whenever they can.

Demel breaks down the right and is able to travel deep inside the Chelsea half on account of Azpilicueta being out of possession. Cahill comes across, standing up his opponent before sending the ball out for a corner. A rare chance for the Hammers here…

The hosts concede possession inside their own half once more – Ivanovic sending Hazard down the right. With a lack of options inside the box, the Belgian whips the ball into the path of Lampard on the edge of the penalty area. His header from distance flashes wide.

West Ham are penned deep in their own half. They’re regimented and disciplined but, with nobody to aim for up front, will struggle to create anything going forward. This could well be a long afternoon.

Mourinho is still having words with the fourth official. He just won’t let that penalty incident lie. In Foy’s defence, Oscar was moving away from goal which probably saved the keeper. No doubt that it was a penalty, though.

Morrison looks to spark a bit of life into his side. He drops short before bursting out wide and skipping past Azpilicueta to cross. Demel attempts to pluck the ball out of the air but his touch is a heavy one and the ball rolls out of play for a goal kick.

There is a severe lack of tempo to West Ham’s play at the moment. The home side are struggling to string more than five passes together.
