That's what Malaga need to do in this second half. They need more shots on goal. They hardly tested Lopez before the break.

Lopez makes a comfortable save. Marcelo gets caught on the wrong side of the attack, but Samuel can't get enough power on his shot and the Real Madrid keeper can make the stop with ease.

Amrabat picks up the ball on the left side, beats two players before whipping a wonderful low cross into the box, looking for Santa Cruz. However, Pepe gets across to cut it out. Amrabat has picked up where he left off at the end of the first half.

So can Real Madrid find the goals their first half display probably deserved. Ronaldo will be disappointed that he doesn't already have a hat trick. He could still notch a few more.

The second half is unde way!

What did you make of the first half? Should Real Madrid have scored more? Has Amrabat been the best player on the pitch? Tweet me (@grahamruthven)!

Malaga are still in this game but Real Madrid threatened to blow them away at times in that first half. Ronaldo could have had a hat trick and Caballero has kept the Los Blancos attackers at bay. The injury to Benzema will be a concern though.

HALF TIME: Malaga 0-1 Real Madrid

That would have been assist of the season! Bale puts a magnificent driven, spun, volleyed cross into the box for Ronaldo, but the Real Madrid number seven directs his header wide of the target. Wow.

Modric does so well from a short corner to break along the byline. However, when he tries to fire the ball across the face of goal Caballero does well to block it and put it behind for a corner kick.

Real Madrid have looked a little shaky at the back at times tonight. Pepe hasn't been at his best and Amrabat has been a problem for them. They're missing Ramos, I would say.
42'
Indeed, Isco is now playing in the false number nine role, with Benzema off the pitch with an injury. Whenever he's played he's been used there by Ancelotti. Does the player actually like playing there?

As I've already said, Amrabat has been Malaga's best player in this first half. He's drifted all over the front line, making him very difficult to mark. He is a very dangerous player and is in the mood.

Antunes needed to make that! Real Madrid come forward on the break, with Malaga's line at the half way line. But with Isco and Di Maria surging through the left back intercepts Ronaldo's through ball. Crucial.

Good chance for Malaga! Amrabat puts a wonderful ball into the box for Samuel to meet, but Marcelo gets himself in between the ball and his keeper to deflect the ball behind for a corner kick.

These are very important minutes for Malaga in the run up to half time. They can't afford to go into the break 2-0 down if they have genuine hopes of getting anything from this game.
36'
Di Maria is too strong for Angeleri on the left wing, coming out a 50-50 challenge with the ball at his feet. However, the low cross into the box is too close to the keeper with Caballero collecting.
35'
So how will Real Madrid line up without Benzema on the pitch? I expect Isco will move up into the false nine position, with Di Maria playing in midfield. Or Ronaldo could move into the forward role.
34'
That's a very strange change by Ancelotti. Di Maria is one yellow card away from missing the Clasico next week. Why didn't he bring on Jese Rodriguez or Alvaro Morata? It just seems like an unnecessary risk to me.

Good chance for the away team. Pepe makes a poor header to prevent a cross from reaching Santa Cruz, but when it breaks back to Amrabat he scuffs his shot into the ground and Lopez saves.
