Neal Foulds stunned by high number of 147 breaks in 2025/26 snooker season - 'Unbelievable'

TNT Sports experts Neal Foulds and Philip Studd discussed the number of 147 breaks during an "unbelievable" start to the 2025/26 season as Judd Trump took on Gary Wilson at the Wuhan Open. Foulds and Studd have been amazed by the quality of snooker on show during the early stages of the campaign, with Ronnie O'Sullivan and Thepchaiya Un-Nooh both already on two maximums each.

TNT Sports expert Neal Foulds believes the number of 147 breaks that have been produced so far this season is "unbelievable".
There have been seven maximums during the 2025/2026 campaign so far, including two at the Wuhan Open, which is being shown live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
Thepchaiya Un-Nooh also has two maximums to his name, with the first coming in Saudi Arabia and the second in Wuhan, while Fan Zhengyi, Xiao Guodong and Zhang Anda all have one each.
Foulds made the comments during world No. 1 Judd Trump’s clash with Gary Wilson after The Tyneside Terror played it safe rather than go for a big break.
"There have been a couple of 147 breaks here already this week, and he is not looking to add to that here," he said.

"He is playing on the pink, the frame is of course much more important than any big numbers.
"Not that a 146 would not be a big number, but it is not winning break prizes anymore.
"The amount of 147 breaks we are seeing is unbelievable."
There were 15 147 breaks recorded last term, the most in a single season ever.
Foulds’ fellow TNT Sports commentator Philip Studd pointed out that there had been no maximums by this stage last season.
"Seven already, and we are still in August," he said.
"I don’t think we had had any at this stage of the season 12 months ago.
"We ended up having a record 15."
Foulds swiftly pointed out that O'Sullivan had played a significant role in increasing the number of maximums this term.
"You are seeing more than one in the tournament," added Foulds.
"We had three in Saudi Arabia, we had two here.
"Of course, two of them in Saudi Arabia happened in the space of about an hour by Ronnie O'Sullivan."
