MORA STARS AS MEXICO MAINTAIN PERFECT START TO DUMP OUT CZECHIA
Julian Quinones, Mateo Chavez and Alvaro Fidalgo got the party started at Estadio Azteca as Mexico cruised to a dominant 3-0 victory over Czechia.
Rounding off Group A in style, Mexico made it three wins out of three to claim maximum points and ruthlessly dump Czechia out of the World Cup.
On the night he became the youngest player to start a World Cup game since 2002, 17-year-old wonderkid Gilberto Mora impressed for El Tri in Mexico City.
The attacking midfielder put on a performance way beyond his years as he lit up the Azteca, sparking the game into life with his creativity.
After a drub first half, Chavez netted the long-awaited opening goal for Mexico in the 55th minute, finishing a clinical counter-attack after being played through by Luis Romo.
Quinones then doubled El Tri’s lead six minutes later, poking home from close range after Tomas Holes’ poor clearance ricocheted into his path.
With a two-goal advantage and having netted in all three World Cup group games for the first time since 2002, there was even time for a Guillermo Ochoa swansong.
Ochoa, now 40, was brought on to replace Raul Rangel and appear in his sixth consecutive World Cup to a deafening cheer on 78 minutes.
There was then time for one last quake of noise as Fidalgo whipped in a third deep in stoppage time, finding the top left corner after a Roberto Alvarado lay-off.
It’s the end of the road for Czechia but for Mexico, it’s just the beginning as they mark their biggest World Cup win since 1970.

SIMPLY PERFECT
Mexico will face a third-placed team at the Estadio Azteca in the round of 32 and they have every reason to be confident they can progress.
The 3-0 win over Czechia made it three Group A wins out of three, with six scored and zero conceded.
The last host nation to win all three group matches without conceding? Italy in 1990.

BAD NEWS FOR SCOTLAND
South Africa's 1-0 win over Korea Republic is bad news for Scotland.
The Tartan Army were left vulnerable after their heavy 3-0 defeat to Brazil and they are now the seventh-best third-placed team.
Korea leapfrog Scotland as the fourth-best.
With the likes of Cape Verde, Belgium, DR Congo, Ecuador and Senegal all still to play, it's not looking good for the Tartan Army.

AZTECA DOMINANCE CONTINUES
This is well and truly a fortress. And a noisy fortress at that.
Mexico remain unbeaten at the Estadio Azteca in World Cup matches, increasing the streak to an impressive nine matches.
Including tonight's 3-0 triumph, El Tri have won seven and drawn two at this iconic stadium.

GOAL!! CZECHIA 0-3 MEXICO (FIDALGO)
It's three and the party continues in Mexico City!
As if a comfortable 2-0 win wasn't enough, El Tri have rounded off Group A ruthlessly.
What a finish it is too from substitute Alvaro Fidalgo, who fires a worldie into the top left-hand corner after Santiago Gimenez's shot was parried.

PAINFUL INJURY FOR SOUCEK
Oh dear, it's an awful sight as West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek rolls his ankle and goes down in significant pain.
Soucek was pressing Ochoa and tried to block the Mexico goalkeeper's clearance, but he missed the ball and his ankle twisted awkwardly.
Hopefully it was just a jarring motion, but it doesn't look good.
Soucek is forced off and replaced by Alexandr Sojka.

GOAL!! CZECHIA 0-2 MEXICO (QUINONES)
It's two and it's bedlam in Mexico City!
Julian Quinones, who scored the first goal of this tournament, gets on the scoresheet again as he follows up at close range after Tomas Holes' poor attempted clearance ricocheted off Jorge Sanchez.

FOLLOWING IN HIS FATHER’S FOOTSTEPS
It’s a proud moment for Mateo Chavez as he scores his first-ever senior Mexico goal on his 12th cap.
In doing so, he follows in his father Paulo Chavez’s footsteps.
Paulo, now 50, scored two goals in 30 appearances for El Tri back in the day.

GOAL!! CZECHIA 0-1 MEXICO (CHAVEZ)
We have a breakthrough and it's left-back Mateo Chavez of all people!
Chavez finishes off a clinical counter-attack for Mexico, slotting past Matej Kovar after being played through by midfielder Luis Romo.
It's a goal celebrated wildly by the Azteca. But it's a gut-wrenching moment for Czechia, who now need to score two goals to have any chance of advancing in this World Cup.
