Bournemouth sign goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea in £25 million Premier League switch to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga

Djordje Petrovic has joined AFC Bournemouth from Chelsea in a Premier League switch. The Cherries have tied the goalkeeper down on a five-year deal and paid The Blues £25 million for the Serbian's services. Petrovic, 25, becomes the second goalkeeper to depart Stamford Bridge in as many weeks, following Kepa Arrizabalaga's £5m transfer to Arsenal.

The Serbian, who signed for The Blues in August 2023, recently finished a season-long loan at French side Strasbourg, where he made 31 appearances.
The 25 year-old helped them to a seventh-placed finish in Ligue 1, securing the club a spot in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
In the previous season he played in 31 matches for Chelsea across Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup campaigns.
"I came to Bournemouth because I want to grow and I want to play at the best level," Petrovic said.
"Together with this club, with these facilities, I think we can achieve it.
"I want to help the team get the results, improve every day and be a better player."
Petrovic's professional career started at Serbian side, Cukaricki. In 2022 he moved to America's MLS to play for New England Revolution, before signing for Chelsea in August 2023.
He has also made seven appearances for his national side, Serbia.
"Im really pleased to bring Djordje to the club," said Bournemouth’s president of football operations, Tiago Pinto.
"The opportunity to sign a player of his calibre in the market was one we had to take, particularly given how vital the position of a goalkeeper is.
"We have been looking for the right talent to invest in within this area of the pitch and Djordje has very impressive qualities, as well as a lot of experience for someone who is still young."

The transfer means two goalkeepers have now left Stamford Bridge in as many weeks, after Chelsea sold Kepa Arrizabalaga to Arsenal for £5m.
The Spaniard signed for The Blues back in 2018 for a reported £71.6m, but struggled during his time in west London.
He has spent the past two seasons on loan, at Real Madrid during the 2023/24 campaign and more recently, Bournemouth last season.
Kepa made a resurgence during his time with The Cherries, playing a key part in their ninth-placed finish in the Premier League.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has spoken highly of the Spanish goalkeeper, saying he "brings a wealth of experience" who can "elevate their levels".
