Real Madrid sign River Plate star Franco Mastantuono on six-year deal

Real Madrid have announced the signing of highly-rated River Plate youngster Franco Mastantuono. The 17-year-old, who had a €45m (£38.5m) release clause in his River Plate contract, is set to join the Spanish giants on a six-year deal. The winger will make the move to the Bernabeu when he turns 18 in August, meaning he will remain at the Argentine side for this month's Club World Cup.

Real Madrid have signed Franco Mastantuono from River Plate on a six-year deal, the La Liga club have announced.
The 17-year-old winger had a €45m (£38.5m) release clause in his River Plate contract.
The youngster will join up with the La Liga outfit on 14 August when he turns 18, meaning he will compete in this month's Club World Cup for River Plate.
Mastantuono became Argentina's youngest-ever player when he made his debut earlier this month, aged just 17 years and 295 days old.
The winger reportedly favoured a move to Madrid over UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain, who had expressed interest.
Mastantuono made 19 appearances for River Plate last season, scoring seven goals and registering four assists.
He has appeared 61 times in total for the club, since making his debut in January 2024 at the age of 16, and has scored 10 goals in that time.
In February of that year, he became the club's youngest-ever goalscorer.
Mastantuono becomes the third signing made by the Spanish giants this summer, following the arrivals of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen.
Madrid will be hoping new manager Xabi Alonso can guide them to silverware next season following a fruitless 2024/25 campaign.
