Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim said he plans to emulate Sir Alex Ferguson and stay at Old Trafford for 20 years. The Portuguese joined from Sporting CP last November but endured a difficult first season, with the club finishing 15th in the Premier League table and missing out on European football altogether. As the new season approaches though, he said he is ready to ‘start fresh’.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim said he plans to emulate Sir Alex Ferguson and stay at Old Trafford for 20 years.
The Portuguese joined from Sporting CP last November but endured a very testing opening season, as United finished 15th in the Premier League.
The club then missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification with a 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League final.
Despite a very difficult first season in England, Amorim is positive he can emulate United’s greatest manager, and stay for two decades.
"I want to stay 20 [years]. That is my goal, and I truly believe in that. Something will happen. In some moments, I will be lucky," he said.
"I had a lot of luck during my career as a manager, and my idea is to stay for many years.

"We know that results will dictate that; I know that last season, I used all the credit, but I’m ready to start fresh."
United’s timid attack proved to be a major factor in their inconsistency last season, scoring just 44 goals in the league, which was better than only the three relegated sides and Everton.
It is no surprise then that Amorim and United have made significant changes to the attack for the season coming and there are plans to make further adjustments.
Matheus Cunha looks set to take the left attacking midfielder slot after he completed his move from Wolves, while Bryan Mbeumo is likely to start in the right midfield role after he finally made the £70m move from Brentford.
Marcus Rashford has departed on loan to Barcelona, while Alejandro Garnacho has been told to find a new club, along with previously exiled duo Jadon Sancho and Antony.
United are rumoured to be targetting Benjamin Sesko or Ollie Watkins to complete their attacking overhaul, as they look to qualify for European football again, while goalkeepers have also been linked with moves to Old Trafford.
Both Paris Saint-Germain's Gianluigi Donnarumma and Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez have been connected with moves to United this summer.
Amorim did not deny United may be active again this summer, but he did make it clear he was happy with the goalkeepers already at the club in Tom Heaton, Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana.
"We are always looking to improve the team and we have some characteristics we would like to have. But it depends on the market and depends on sales," Amorim added.
"You can see the goalkeepers. Tom [Heaton] is leaner, Altay [Bayindir] did really well and [Andre] Onana is going to be better, like the other guys that are getting better this year."
United begin the Premier League season on Sunday, August 17, when they host Arsenal at Old Trafford.
