German side Bayer Leverkusen have completed the signing of England Under-21 international Jarell Quansah from Premier League champions Liverpool.
The defender, 22, has signed a five-year deal with Leverkusen and is the third transfer deal between the two clubs this summer after Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong both moved to Anfield.
It is reported that the initial fee for Quansah is ÂŁ30 million and includes a buy-back option.
Quansah came off the bench when Liverpool beat Leverkusen 4-0 in the UEFA Champions League last season and says they were a "great team".
"I was able to get a good impression of the team and the club when we met Leverkusen with Liverpool in the Champions League last season," he told the club website.
"A great team - they played the first 60 minutes like hardly any other team at Anfield.
"In the discussions, they explained to me exactly what ambitious goals they have here. It's a great task and challenge for me to become part of Leverkusen's current awakening."
Quansah came up through the youth academy at Liverpool and made 58 senior appearances.
He made his debut in August 2023 and made 25 appearances in all competitions during Arne Slot’s first season in charge as Liverpool won the Premier League title.
He was also part of the England Under-21 side that won the European Championships this summer.
Leverkusen's managing director of sport Simon Rolfes described Quansah as "one of the most promising English central defenders."
"Quansah is fast, agile and a good footballer. He has already made an impressive mark in Liverpool's defence, which is characterised by absolute world-class players.
"With Jarell, our defence will gain distinctive dynamism, speed and toughness in duels and another very important building block for the Werkself of the future."
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, who is out of contract next summer.
Leverkusen, meanwhile, have been seeking a replacement for Jonathan Tah after he joined Bayern Munich this summer.
