The points were shared in an entertaining back-and-forth match at Molineux as Wolves and Newcastle played out a 2-2 draw. Hwang Hee-Chan struck a late equaliser as Wolves earned a 2-2 draw with Newcastle following a pulsating encounter at Molineux.
The visitors had opened the scoring through Callum Wilson’s acrobatic finish on 22 minutes after a howler from home stopper, Jose Sa.
Mario Lemina levelled 14 minutes later when he headed in his first goal for Wolves from Pedro Neto’s left-wing corner, but the visitors restored their advantage in first-half stoppage time as Wilson converted a debatable spot-kick to notch his second of the contest.
Wolves took charge after the restart and deservedly levelled 19 minutes from time when Hwang drilled in at the near post following lovely build-up play from Toti Gomes.
Gary O’Neil’s side looked to have the impetus to perhaps go on and win it but an injury to star man, Neto curtailed their hopes as he pulled up with what appeared to be a hamstring problem.
The result means Newcastle remain in sixth. Wolves climb to 12th and are now unbeaten in five league matches.
Next up, Newcastle visit Man United in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night before hosting Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday. Wolves visit Sheffield United.

Talking point - Goals, drama and a fair result

This was a highly entertaining spectacle between two, in-form sides with a habit for drawing when they lock horns here in the Premier League.
At times it was breathless and end-to-end with both teams having spells of dominance. Newcastle led twice but did benefit from a dubious penalty decision and goalkeeping gaffe.
Wolves felt decisions were against them with VAR taking an eternity to check the award of the first-half stoppage-time penalty against Hwang. The reaction across social media suggested many neutral fans saw it has harsh, but the home team responded after the break and ensured the discussion wouldn’t centre upon another issue with the intervention of technology.
O’Neil deserves great praise for the way Wolves have started this season after a summer of turmoil, but the injury to Neto is a major concern heading into November.

Player of the match - Callum Wilson (Newcastle United)

The striker seized his opportunity in the absence of the injured Alexander Isak, notching a double that maintains his record as the player with the best goals to minutes ratio (for players featuring in over 100 minutes) in the league.
