Things are getting a little fiery out there. Luiz fouls Armstrong and the Southampton midfielder has gone down holding his face. Replays show that there was nothing malicious there.

The equaliser has certainly given Arsenal a boost. They are gaining control of this match after a pitiful opening 15 minutes or so when Southampton could have scored one or two more.

There's the first yellow card of the afternoon and it's shown to Torreira for a cynical foul.

Into the side netting! Arsenal got a little lucky there. Leno got caught under the corner kick delivery from Ward-Prowse, but Hojbjerg heads into the side netting at the back post.

VAR has a look at the Arsenal goal for a suspected handball from Lacazette, but there's nothing there and the goal stands. Not sure if Arsenal deserve to be level, but they are.

Tierney's delivery from the left wing gives Aubameyang the shooting opportunity, his effort is blocked, the ball falls at the feet of Lacazette and he fires into the back of the Southampton net!

Leno saves! Ward-Prowse got the shot away from about 25 yards out, but the Arsenal goalkeeper was behind that all the way and gets down to make the comfortable save. Holds on to it.

Over the bar from Ings! That was a chance for Southampton to double their advantage, but Ings puts his effort from the edge of the box over the target. Arsenal players are now arguing among themselves.

"Boooooooo!" The Arsenal supporters are enraged by what they are seeing from their team here. The Gunners haven't even started yet. Southampton could be a couple goals to the good.

This has been a terrible start by Arsenal. It's Southampton who are on top at the moment. The opener goal seems to have filled them with confidence and they are pressing for a second.

There was a flat atmosphere inside the Emirates Stadium at kick off. It's not got rowdier, but not for the reasons Emery would have hoped. There are already whistles and jeers from the home fans.

Things are getting worse for Arsenal because Lacazette still seems to be struggling with a knock he picked up just before the Southampton goal. The forward is hobbling about the pitch.

The Arsenal players are still complaining to the referee about his decision to allow Southampton's quick freekick, but they only have themselves to blame. They switched off.

The away side took a quick freekick and caught Arsenal completely cold at the back! Ings was released through and found the back of the net with a near post finish past Leno!

Brilliant from Lacazette! The forward was dogged in creating the space for a cross down the right side. His delivery wasn't bad, but Ozil's touch inside the area took him a little bit wide.

That's a couple times already that Arsenal have failed to spot the overlapping run of Tierney down the left side. The Scottish left back is still finding his feet with the Gunners.
