The home crowd are whistling and booing an extended spell of United possession, but they've got little reason to feel aggrieved by any decisions that have been made in these opening minutes.

Coutinho clips Herrera and a foul is given, which sends Klopp into a complete rage on the edge of his technical area. That reaction is probably more to do with the manager's frustration at how his team have started rather than the incident itself.

Ibrahimovic tees up Pogba for a shot on the edge of the box, but it's well blocked. United have had an impressive start to this game, knocking Liverpool off their usual high-tempo stride.

Fellaini beats Firmino in the air from a free-kick that's floated into the Liverpool box, but he started his run too soon and is caught by the offside trap. That's inexcusable from the Belgian, who was looking straight along the line.

Sturridge pulls off the back of his marker but can't bring a long ball over the top under control. Had he taken it in his stride it would have been a great chance for the England forward.

Liverpool steal possession in the United half and look to transition quickly, as is their want. It's panic stations for the visiting back-four, but they receive a let-off when the resulting cross fails to pick out an unmarked Sturridge at the back stick.

"Waheeey" goes the cheer from the home faithful as Zlatan's free-kick is blasted high into the stands behind the goal.

United win a free-kick and Ibrahimovic is standing over it and looking at a shot from goal... which is pretty optimistic given the 40-yard range.

Anfield under the lights makes for a terrific atmosphere, as the tired old cliche goes. The volume is pretty loud at the moment, but there's been little action of note on the pitch so far.

Rashford catches Milner and the Anfield crowd are up in arms... but there wasn't much in that and the referee awards just a free-kick after giving the youngster a quick talking to.

United, kitted out in all-blue (as you'd expect on 'Red Monday'), get the game underway.
