Superb work from Benteke as he turns Dann on the edge of the box, before curling an effort towards the top corner, which Speroni does well to tip over the bar.

Zaha finds some space and races down the right, but he gets his cross all wrong and it sails out for a throw-in. A real waste for Palace there as Villa looked exposed at the back.

Benteke is hacked down by Dann in a dangerous position. There have been plenty of fouls in these first 25 minutes... A red card later, anyone?

Villa continue to enjoy some of the possession, but they have yet to do anything with it, having been unable to break the Palace defence down.

Saying that, Palace have lacked that early directness and pace they were showing in recent moments, which has allowed Villa to steady the ship somewhat.

Palace looking pretty dangerous from these set-pieces, and rather worryingly for Villa, the Eagles seem to be winning them rather regularly.

Palace win another corner, and it is Jedinak who again meets the delivery, but his backheel is soft and Guzan is able to smother it.

Ward sends another free-kick into the box and once again it is Jedinak who lands his head on the delivery, but Villa are able to get rid of the danger.

Sanchez picks up the ball in acres of space and has a pop from the edge of the area, but his strike was always sailing high and wide.

Villa with a decent spell of possession at the moment, which has at least stopped the momentum Palace were building up in the opening stages of the game.

Depending on how other results go tonight, it would not be out of the question to see one of Palace or Villa ending up in the relegation zone by full time...

Ward sends a dangerous ball in from deep that the Villa defence are unable to deal with, but luckily for them Gayle cannot get on the end of it and Guzan smothers.

Benteke is looking like a man short on match fitness as he has struggled to hold up the ball on the odd occasion it has reached him, which is doing little to help the Villa cause.

Jedinak does well to get his head on a Palace free-kick into the box, but his effort fails to reach the target and Villa are able to clear the danger.

Villa have yet to even get going... Sanchez's introduction could actually help them out as he will offer their defence a little more support than Cole was doing.

The pace and directness of Zaha and Bolasie on either flank are really causing the Villa defence problems... At the moment, they are struggling to deal with them and Palace's confidence continues to grow.

It's bad news for Villa as Cole has picked up a knock already and has been forced to come off. Sanchez is the man to replace him.
