Over the past couple of seasons Arsenal really have proved themselves to be hopelessly inept at offside.

GOAL! 1-1! It's Yakubu on his debut! Hoilett prods a pass through and with Koscielny and Santos playing the striker onside, Yakubu takes it early when flicking the ball past Szczesny with the outside of his boot. Superb.

Gervinho flicks the ball out wide to Sagna with a lovely touch and the Frenchman returns the favour before Gervinho fires well over the bar.

Andre Santos with a firm challenge to deny Rochina but the Brazilian then loses possession with a slack pass. Meanwhile, it appears as though Nzonzi has gone to right-back to replace Salgado.

Gervinho looks for a second as he jinks his way into the box and the Ivory Coast international forces Robinson into a smart reflex save at his near post.

An Arsenal corner is headed clear by Blackburn and Arshavin meets the dropping ball with a volley from 20 yards that forces Paul Robinson to dive to his right and palm away. He didn't really catch the shot cleanly.

Samba wastes a great chance! Rochina floats a deep free-kick to the back post and the defender finds holes in Arsenal's zonal marking system, only to send his header off target when he should have tested Szczesny at least.

An early chance as Michel Salgado looks to have a problem and is replaced by Radosav Petrovic.

Hoilett, however, remains a real threat and after holding off the big frame of Song, his dinked cross forces Koscielny to leap and head away.

This is so, so easy for Arsenal at the moment. They are knocking the ball about with elan and Rovers can't get close to them.

Koscielny trips over his own feet but Blackburn cannot exploit his error as an attempted through-ball for Yakubu is cut out by Per Mertesacker.

Arsenal have plenty of bodies forward after collecting possession following a poor pass from Scott Dann but Van Persie's attempted cross flies out of play. He would have been better off looking for the short option.

Blackburn struggle to clear from the corner and Samba is forced to head away when Laurent Koscielny dinks a nice ball into the box. Arsenal are penalised for a foul as the pressure is alleviated a touch.

Arteta goes short to Arshavin and the set-piece goes wasted. However, Arsenal apply pressure and win a corner.

Steven Nzonzi knocks into Arteta and brings him down some 35 yards from goal. The Spaniard lines up the free-kick.

GOAL! 1-0 Arsenal! Gervinho grabs his first goal for the Gunners! Alex Song with a glorious through ball and the forward pulls his shot through the legs of Samba and across Paul Robinson into the far corner. That was excellently executed all round.

Sagna again is given the freedom of the right side to play a square pass in for Arshavin, who attempts to flick a pass through for Van Persie. He fails to find his target though.

Scott Dann is forced into making a frantic clearance as Van Persie heads back across goal following a deep cross from Sagna. The Frenchman is enjoying plenty of space when in an attacking position.

Arshavin works the ball to Andre Santos on the left but the Brazilian's square pass rolls straight to a Blackburn shirt.

Now Sagna supplies a cross from the right and Van Persie just can't control the cross into the box as he leaps into the air. It's been a lively start.

Rovers saunter forward and Ruben Rochina, who scored a cracker against Fulham last weekend, drags an effort well off target.
