Wigan on the break again - N'Zogbia tears down the left, but he doesn't pick out Di Santo who was in acres of space until it was too late, and that's an opportunity gone begging.

Two corners, neither particularly effective for Wigan.

N'ZOGBIA MENACING AGAIN! Driven cross from N'Zogbia could have gone anywhere! Krul punches it into Williamson's face and it goes out just a whisker wide for a corner!

Tiote brings down N'Zogbia. He's committed several fouls in this first half.

Lovenkrands looks for an option and finds Perch on the right. He appeals for a handball - not given and Wigan break.

Di Santo chests the ball down for Gomez on a sharp break, and Gomez tries to tuck away an inviting half-volley from 25 yards, but drags the ball wide. Limp effort.

Sliding tackle from Carroll on Di Santo - the Newcastle man took plenty of the ball but it wasn't pretty.

GOALLINE CLEARANCE! Williamson's header from Barton's corner is scrambled away by Boyce. Might Gutierrez have tucked it in? It was very close, and Wigan are off the hook.

NEWCASTLE THREATEN! It was a good ball and Figueroa loses Carroll who plays a dangerous volleyed cross - corner!

Close through ball - Lovenkrands is played through and the flag goes up - but the Dane was played on by Figueroa there and was unlucky.

Lovenkrands and Carroll challenge for the same ball and end up losing it to Wigan.

Good tussle between Gutierrez and Boyce ends with the visitors winning a free kick in their own half. Everyone jogs into position for the heave upfield.

A ball lumped forward by Thomas almost bounces into Di Santo's path but Krul is a match for that one.

Newcastle move forward - Perch tries a cross but it lacks height and Thomas is in place to clear it.

Throw for Wigan just beyond the halfway line.

Two poor defensive moments at either end - Perch is caught out by N'Zogbia (not for the first time) as the Frenchman gets a cross in, while Gutierrez at the other end suddenly finds the ball breaking his way in the Wigan box - both sides get away with it.
