Hughes and Cahill tangle and Fulham have a free-kick deep in their half. Dempsey is getting frustrated with the lack of decent service as he is caught offside.

Fulham have their backs against the wall as Everton rain down a succession of low deliveries from wide.

Salcido with an excellent cross for Dempsey but Distin attacks it to clear.

A good little spell for Fulham but ultimately they fail to get the final ball in and Everton break.

Gera gets hold of it on the right after a poor defensive header from Distin, he cuts inside Neville and it opens up but his fizzing drive across Howard is wide of the far post!

Salcido swings it in but off Dempsey’s head and into the arms of Howard.

A late trip from Cahill on Murphy gets the Australian a warning. A poor and needless tackle that has merely resulted in him hurting himself.

Really slick passing from Everton as Cahill works it to Pienaar on the left but his attempted inswinging shot is woeful, row z and well wide of the far post.

Fulham clear the danger from Arteta’s corner and the Whites can break but Murphy’s ball towards Dempsey is too strong and out for a goal kick.

FULHAM SUB: A delay in taking the corner to allow Chris Baird to come on for Kelly, who hasn’t recovered from that earlier knock.

Baines cuts inside from the left and smacks in a rising drive that takes a big deflection off Hughes and goes over for a corner.

The ref gets in Murphy’s way, allowing play to be spread wide to Coleman. His cross is decent but comes off the head of Hughes, Pienaar has it now and plays it back as Everton keep the ball...

A very strong challenge on Gera by Jagielka but Webb waves him up, saying he got the ball – which I think he did. Crunching though.

Kelly has picked up a knock, getting some help off the pitch but seeming able to run it off.

The move is still alive as a dangerous low cross from Neville is swung in and despite a poor decision to leave it by Hughes, Schwarzer dives on to it.

As if by magic, Everton opt for a short passing move along the deck until a very testing cross by Pienaar is flung in for Cahill: Hughes beats him to it.

A high ball from Baines aimed at the Yak is easily fielded by Schwarzer. Everton definitely looking at the aerial approach, although given how enormous Hangeland and Schwarzer are I can’t see it working.

Coleman with a burst forward inside from the right but he shoots tamely instead of squaring it and Davies blocks.
