There seems to be a running battle of sorts at the moment between Ronaldo and some sections of the Real Madrid support. They have been jeering him for a few games now.

MORE JEERS FOR RONALDO! The Real Madrid number seven makes another misplaced pass straight out of play and the home supporters jeer him. That's quite remarkable.

Zaldua and Zurutuza have been the standout performers for the away side in this opening half hour or so. The latter in particular is doing a grea job in the middle of the pitch.

It all just seems a little disjointed at the moment for the home side. There is little in the way of fluency about their play. Real Sociedad are disrupting them as well.

Kovacic is beginning to take things upon himself in the centre of the pitch. He is the one looking to make things happen, looking to dictate the pace and tempo of Real Madrid's play.

Indeed, there would seem to be a sense of unease among some of the home supporters at the Santiago Bernabeu. The game isn't going how they would have hoped.

That was a wasted opportunity for Real Madrid. They won a freekick in a good position out on the right wing, but Kroos couldn't find a player in white in the penalty area.

Real Madrid need to tighten things up in terms of keeping possession. That is sabotaging their chances of controlling this match. They can't do that if they keeping losing the ball.

Zidane doesn't look too happy with the way things are going on the touchline. He is becoming more and more animated as the Real Madrid manager. Waving his arms, shouting...

It's a year since Canales suffered that injury against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. It ruled him out for a few months and he is still recovering from that blow.

Canales had a sight of goal from the best part of about 25 yards, but there was no real power to his effort and Navas has the rather straightforward task of saving.

The pass from Casemiro wasn't good enough. Zurutuza loses the ball, allowing Real Madrid's attackers to flood forward, but the pass to Benzema is cut out before it can reach him.

It's interesting how Kovacic has become a first team starter for Real Madrid this season. He was a fringe player until a few months ago. Now, Zidane has taken a shine to him.

That was a counter attack opportunity for Real Madrid. Kovacic surged up the middle of the pitch and passed the ball out to Ronaldo, but he couldn't make the most of the situation.

NAVAS MAKES THE SAVE! The Real Madrid keeper chooses not to have a wall for the freekick and Jose draws the save from the Costa Rican at his near post.

Surely Ramos should have seen a yellow card for that? He brought down Martinez as he was surging forward on the counter attack, but the referee decides not to book him.

Some of the passing from Real Madrid has been atrocious so far. They have been really slack in keeping the ball, and Real Sociedad are using that to their advantage.
