You have to praise Madrid's hunger and energy though. They've won the ball back in and around the Sociedad half on countless occasions. Modric and Khedira superb.

That goal came just after Ronaldo, with better control, would have had a chance to score a carbon copy of the first goal. Real Sociedad have just fallen apart here.

Carvajal took the ball forward and passed to Bale, whose neat first-time ball found the German. His finish was emphatic, and he deserves it for the positions he's been taking up.

Carlos Martinez's cross is cleared by Arbeloa. Sociedad's delivery from wide has been very poor so far.

And that was the first action of any note for Real Madrid's custodian, really.

Sociedad win the ball and quickly transfer it to Vela, whose promising run down the left ends with a poor cross into Diego Lopez's arms.

Great chance for Bale! Found by Modric inside the area, he has time to pick his spot but drags wide of the near post.

Should have mentioned that Pepe was booked for that foul on Vela a couple of minutes back. No complaints.

Bale hits a cross against Carlos Martinez - small shout for handball but they're not getting two of those....

The blonde mop of Griezmann tries a low one, but it's straight into Luka Modric on the right side of the wall.

Carlov Vela takes on Pepe down the Sociedad right, and he's upended crudely. Free kick Sociedad in a great area.

Jose Angel makes his first foray forward for Sociedad, but his cross is tame and Varane clears.

Straight down the middle from Ronaldo, but that did look like a harsh award. Bergara was sliding in to stop his cross/shot, the ball went beneath him and struck his arm. Hardly intentional and hardly much time to adopt a different body shape.

It looked harsh. Modrid robbed Gonzalez and fed Ronaldo, whose attempted ball across hit Bergara's hand.

Now Bale looks for Khedira, bursting from deep - and once again the offside is marginal at best.

Delightful play by Bale to tee up Arbeloa in the area - but he's incorrectly given offside.

Xabi Prieto is fouled, though, and now they have a chance - but Pepe comfortably heads the free kick away.

Sociedad just can't get out here. An attempted passing move from the back ends up with Bravo who, under pressure from Bale, lumps it out of play.
