Harry Maguire has confirmed he will miss Euro 2024 after failing to recover from injury in time.
England had earlier revealed Maguire had been following an individual training plan in an attempt to prove his fitness after suffering a calf injury in April.
The Manchester United defender missed the last five matches of his club’s season.
Maguire played in all eight of England’s Euro 2024 qualifiers.
He announced the news on social media and said he is "devastated" to have not made the final selection.
Maguire said he maybe pushed himself "too hard" to be fit.
It comes after James Maddison and Curtis Jones were the first players to be cut from Gareth Southgate’s group ahead of Friday's deadline.
Maddison said he was “devastated” to be released after thinking he could “bring something different” to the team in Germany. Southgate has confirmed his 26-player squad, with Jack Grealish also missing out on a place and the manager later explaining that “other players had stronger seasons".
Grealish faced a struggle for game-time as Manchester City retained the Premier League title and he did not feature in their final four matches of the season.
He came off the bench during England’s friendly win against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Monday.
