Speaking to TNT Sports, Slot said: "I know what they [fringe players] are capable of. So it’s not that they have to prove themselves in this game, but it will always help if they play a very good game.
"But the main thing now is there are three or four months to go. There’s a few of them that haven’t played a lot and this is an ideal moment for them to get game time again, and that’s what you need.
"Because if the ones that have played a lot do pick up an injury, it’s nice that the other ones have had their playing time once in a while and are ready to come in if needed."
