Evening all! It's only Barcelona v Tottenham Hotspur!

Group D was already settled, but Porto have beaten Galatasaray and Schalke have beaten Lokomotiv. Both were already through.

If there's one criticism of Pochettino's reign at Spurs, it's big-game performance. Spurs have contrived to lose almost all their most important games, and we're no longer talking about a handful. He really needs this tonight, not just to get through but to change the narrative - around his players and around himself.

Jake Humphrey just called Dimitar Berbatov "Dimi". I'm not sure I like football anymore.

He says his team need to do their job whoever is in front of them, and he's not bothered that Barca haven't lost at home in 28 European games. He also thinks the start will be important, and if Spurs start well, they'll be close.

Mauricio Pochettino says "it's like a final". Er how does he know, etc etc. He says that Walker-Peters won the u20 World Cup with England, so he's ready.

Harry Kane's going to score tonight isn't he? How is he not going to score?

Robbie Savage, in disguise as Robert Savage the Younger, thinks Spurs will win.

BT have just shown VT of Dembele. He's one of those players who, the first time I saw him, I thought "He's special". If he has a good night, Spurs are in a world of trouble.

He'll have to play well tonight - there's some insight from me - but what I actually mean is that he'll have to refrain from dropping them in it. Lately, that's not been a forte.

Also, "nothing is impossible." Enlightening stuff.

Danny Rose hasn't played a lot of football lately, and he's got Ousmane Dembele to contend with. Dembele is starting to find his feet at Camp Nou, and I'd rather him than me. I wonder if he might saunter over to the left too, to have a word with Kyle Walker-Peters, who's a talent but hasn't faced anything remotely like him.

Spurs, meanwhile, are without Trippier - but he's been dodgy lately. Dier is left out, with Winks and Sissoko, a passer and a runner, protecting the old firm of Vertonghen and Alderweireld. If they can get enough of the ball - Arthur and Rakitic will make that difficult - they've got plenty to mither that Barca defence.

That Barcelona XI offers Spurs a proper chance. Pique, Alba and Busquets are on the bench ... and so is Messi, while Suarez is injured. Circumstances could not be more in their favour.
