United come forward now and Valencia almost gets a second after some comic defending from Uchida allows the Ecuadorean in - he takes too long to round Neuer though and Hoewedes blocks on the line.

WHAT A GOAL BY SCHALKE! Jurado smashes a super drive into the top left after United fail to deal with Uchida's cross. Draxler started that with an interception off a loose Smalling ball.

Neuer claims and almost drops it and, angry with Valencia's attentions, he does a Lehmann and shoves him in the chest. Now Farfan on the right with a dangerous ball that just misses Raul's attack and cleared frantically by Evans.

Wide to Nani and United are overrunning Schalke. Nice nutmeg from O'Shea in the build up. Corner, off Uchida.

GOAL UNITED! And it's a deserved one for Gibson, who thrashes a finish in but oh dear an error from Neuer, straight at him and it spins in off his glove. Oops. That's a bad one, Gomes-Green like. Nani with the assist.

Nani picks up Berbatov's flick-on. He opts for keep-ball but then Scholes pings another diagonal ball to Valencia, who loses out in the tackle to Escudero.

Nani and Berbatov combine but this time Uchida clears. O'Shea harshly penalised when he slides in on Baumjohann, clearly getting the ball.

Jurado can pick out Raul but it's a poor cross.

So Schalke need to score three now. Fat chance. United fans already singing their way to Wembley.

Raul immediately has a half-chance with a header but he loops it too close to Van der Sar,

GOAL UNITED! That's the end of that then. Antonio Valencia with a sweet low finish past the onrushing Neuer after a wonderful through ball from Gibson. That came from an error by Uchida.

Great driving run from Gibson, didn't know he had it in him, after a fine tackle too but his final ball to release Berbatov sells him short, excellent slide tackle too to win it back and play Nani in, but he dithers and wins a corner. Nani's cross is met by Smalling, but well wide from him.

Papadopolous is given a final warning after a block on Rafael. United play keep ball.

Evans is caught late by Baumjohann after he played a nice ball wide for Nani. Frankly he is lucky not to be booked - a bad tackle.

Free-kick United on the right then, Nani sends it in but a poor ball is cleared. Gibson picks up the loose ball and he slides a sweet pass left for Berbatov but his low cut-back is blocked for a corner. Nani takes it and Neuer claims easily.

United appear to be beckoning Schalke on to them. Anyway Scholes doesn't care as he pings a typical crossfield pass for Valencia, who is clipped by Draxler.

Jurado on the ball, lofted wide and Escudero claims it, now Baumjohann who tries a floated ball to Raul but easy for Van der Sar, poor cross.

Cheers as Valencia wins a challenge but he loses out to Draxler. Schalke playing a high line.

Anderson and Nani combine and United have a throw on the left - they failed to find Berbatov, who was free. Anderson crosses high but Neuer claims ahead of Berbatov.

Nani dilly-dallies and loses it to Howedes, who he then fouls. Play on as Schalke are in possession...

O'Shea, captain for the night, does well to win a corner off Uchida. Nani takes it, Neuer flaps at the near post and totally misses it but he was fouled, Valencia pushing him.
