Manchester City moved to the top of the Barclays Women's Super League after they thrashed Liverpool 4-1 at Prenton Park. Khadija Shaw was the two-goal hero - her first was a real beauty from range - while Lauren Hemp and Jess Park added to the Citizens' tally to take them three points clear of Emma Hayes' Chelsea. Elsewhere, Aston Villa and Leicester City played out a draw at the Bescot Stadium.

Manchester City rose to the top of the Women’s Super League after they thrashed Liverpool 4-1 at Prenton Park.
Khadija Shaw scored a brace to follow up Lauren Hemp and Jess Park’s six-minute double salvo, which started in the 16th minute.
Gareth Taylor’s City took the lead against the run of play, as Hemp gobbled up the rebound from Rachel Laws’ initial stop from Mary Fowler’s delivery.
They were two up in the 22nd minute as Park produced an exquisite piece of skill to evade Gemma Bonner before rattling a drive into the back of the net, the shot glancing the far post on its way in.
Shaw made it three just a couple of minutes later as Liverpool threatened to capitulate in the first 45 minutes, as the City striker scored a goal of the season contender.
With one touch in centre-field, she set herself to get past the onrushing Bonner, before she fired a rocket into the top corner beyond Laws in the Liverpool goal.
Five minutes after the interval, Shaw had her second and City’s fourth as she notched another to her season’s tally from a Fowler corner.
Khiara Keating, the Manchester City goalkeeper, put through her own net with six minutes remaining to give the Reds a consolation, after Taylor Hinds’ 30-yard screamer cannoned in off the shot-stopper to eradicate the visitors’ clean sheet.
But with this defeat, any remaining hope that Matt Beard’s side had of closing the gap on the top three seems dashed.
Liverpool are now eight points adrift of Arsenal in third, but Jonas Eidevall’s side have a game in hand on their counterparts.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa shared the spoils with Leicester City as Rachel Daly’s 75th-minute equaliser saved the day for the Villans in a 2-2 draw.
Adriana Leon opened the scoring on 26 minutes after excellent work down the flank from Kenza Dali, with Leon tapping home to notch the hosts in front.
Leicester were level within three minutes as Yuka Momiki rattled home inside Anna Leat’s near post before her provider, Jutta Rantala, hit the post from a gilt-edged opportunity in the middle of the box.
Sam Tierney completed the Foxes’ turnaround on 56 minutes as she rose highest to nod home Momiki’s free kick, but Daly slammed home from close range after a sumptuous assist from Jordan Nobbs.
