A foot injury has ruled Manchester City striker Khadija Shaw out for the remainder of the Women’s Super League season. Shaw sustained the injury during a victory against West Ham last weekend. She is still on track to finish the campaign with the Golden Boot after scoring 21 goals, but her absence is a blow to City’s chances in the WSL title race against Chelsea.

Manchester City were dealt a blow in the Women’s Super League title race after striker Khadija Shaw was ruled out of the rest of the season.
Shaw, nicknamed Bunny, was forced off during City’s 5-0 victory against West Ham last weekend.
A scan revealed she had suffered a foot injury which will see her miss the rest of City’s WSL campaign.
"It’s such a difficult one for Bunny because she’s had an incredible season," said City manager Gareth Taylor.
"We had a feeling it might be an issue when she came off the pitch [against West Ham] even though it was non contact. She’ll be well looked after by the medical team."
Shaw is still on course to finish this season with the Golden Boot after scoring 21 goals, eight more than second-place Lauren James.
But her absence will be a blow for City as they aim to remain top of the WSL table and win their first league title since 2016.
The side will go six points clear of Chelsea if they defeat relegation-threatened Bristol City this weekend, although the reigning WSL champions will have two games in hand.
Chelsea are in UEFA Women’s Champions League action tomorrow instead, with their crucial semi-final second leg against Barcelona live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
City currently have a superior goal difference of three in the WSL, but this could easily swing in Chelsea’s favour during the last matches of the season, particularly with Shaw now absent.
Taylor backed City’s other attacking players to step into the vacuum left by Shaw.
"Bunny is our main number nine, but Mary [Fowler] has played there, Lauren [Hemp] has played there," he said.
"Chloe [Kelly] is capable of playing there, Jess [Park] can do a really good job there.
"Of course, we all understand what Bunny brings, she is such a box player, she gives us a different way of playing. Now we will have a different kind of number nine."
