BREAK! - ALCARAZ 6-4 0-1 SINNER
Sinner quickly shrugs off the dismay at losing an opener he was initially in charge of.
The Italian booms a deep backhand down the line to tee up three instant break points but sees one wiped out by a big serve before another slip allows Alcaraz’s dropper to stave off a second.
There’s no escape on the third, however, as Sinner claws back a 140mph serve and forces Alcaraz to over-press with a forehand long.

SET! - ALCARAZ 6-4 SINNER
Sinner drags a backhand long and then comes under the cosh in a bruising rally.
Alcaraz sizzle a backhand a whisker wide and Jannik is relieved to make 15-15.
The Italian’s first serve has gone AWOL but he lands one to take charge before creating a big problem for himself with a drive volley long.
Alcaraz then clocks up set point with a drop shot that proves to be a winner when the top seed slips at the baseline.
The Spaniard snatches at a second serve but the reprieve is a short one for the world number one as he double faults to cough up a second SP.
A blockbuster rally ensues with Sinner forced to try a Hollywood forehand down the line from outside the tramlines. It would be too good for most, but Alcaraz almost does the splits to block it back towards the open court and seal the opener in incredible style.

ALCARAZ 5-4 SINNER
Alcaraz throws in a first double fault to create a problem at 15-30 but a pair of superb wide serves, with the second leading to a supreme 1-2 punch from low down, help him turn the tables.
The defending champion slams down an ace to finish and now has the scoreboard advantage at the perfect moment.

BREAK! – ALCARAZ 4-4 SINNER
On the Watchalong, CoCo suggests the interactions between Carlitos and his coaching team is a bit ‘spicy’ early on here. She muses as to whether it may be due to the game-plan not quite working or his feel of the ball.
It could be just to vent some frustration as he dominates a lengthy exchange and screams with delight as Jannik blinks first with a forehand outside of the tramlines.
Sinner looks a touch flustered and loops a forehand just long to cough up two break back points.
Alcaraz only needs one as the top seed falters by dragging a backhand into the net and we are back on terms in this opener.
16:48
ALCARAZ 3-4 SINNER
Alcaraz goes back in-behind with a brutal forehand up the line to pull clear at 30-15 and is relieved to see Sinner jab his weighty dropper just into the alley.
16:45
ALCARAZ 2-4 SINNER
Sinner makes life awkward for himself from 30-0 up with an over-zealous forehand wide and a backhand long.
The Italian bombards the Spaniard’s defence and then outsmarts him with a drop-shot/crosscourt volley combo.
The world number one then consolidates with aplomb courtesy of a wide ace.
16:41
BREAK! – ALCARAZ 2-3 SINNER
Sinner looks to turn the screw with a sharp dart forward to stun an angled volley to open.
Alcaraz motors back and drills a beauty of a backhand winner down the line on the run en route to leading 40-15.
Back comes Jannik with a crisp forehand off a short ball and he cranks up the heat with a backhand down the line to make deuce.
Alcaraz falters with a plus-one backhand into the net to cough up the maiden break point of the final and he blinks first in the ensuing rally with a wayward forehand that flies long.
16:34
ALCARAZ 2-2 SINNER
There’s a conversation on the Watchalong about who prime Nick Kyrgios (2022) would have the best chance of beating.
CoCo thinks it would be against Sinner while Evo feels it would be Alcaraz.
Kyrgios chips in and suggests he would beat both at some point but that they would defeat him most of the time.
Meanwhile, Sinner revs up the big first serve and cruises through a love hold to level.
16:30
ALCARAZ 2-1 SINNER
Carlitos hammers down a powerhouse body serve to seal the hold to 30 after the forehand had faltered to allow Sinner a short window of opportunity from 40-0 down.
16:27
ALCARAZ 1-1 SINNER
On the Watchalong, Dan Evans suggests 'it's mad to say, but both players are a bit nervous and tight."
Indeed, they are still searching for the right depths on their groundstrokes with a number of errors from both of them.
Sinner eventually closes the door on a hold to 30 with a hefty first serve and that should help with the butterflies.
16:22
ALCARAZ 1-0 SINNER
There’s a puff of chalk as Alcaraz’s serve down the T clips the line and diverts away from Sinner.
The Italian strikes a tame backhand into the net and then clunks one long to allow the two-time defending champion to post a love hold to open.

NICK KYRGIOS ON WHY HE IS TIPPING ALCARAZ TO LAND THE THREE-PEAT
"Alcaraz for me, he is just so talented. He has got a bit of Federer about him, you know, with the drop shots and the serve and the volley.
I think he has got a bit of the Big Three in him.
"He has got the physicality of Rafa, he has got the talent and the touch of Federer.
"Alcaraz is one of those players who is comfortable moving forward, this is why he has been so dominant on the grass."

THE WATCHALONG CREW DISCUSS ANISIMOVA'S STAGE-FRIGHT V SWIATEK IN THE LADIES' FINAL
Kyrgios: "I think we’ve all been in that position before where we felt extremely uncomfortable on the court, where everything has gone wrong, you’ve done everything in your power to prepare but nothing hits the mark. I feel that’s why we have a bit of love for Amanda. We don’t want to take away the fact that she still made a Wimbledon final. And who cares? That match was yesterday and she’s going to have so much improvement for next time, so it doesn’t really matter."
CoCo Vandeweghe: "I think sport is all about compassion. The best thing we have is the relatability of what Amanda was going through and obviously on the biggest stage of her career and the biggest moment. I sent a message to my old coach Craig Kardon afterwards, he coached Martina Navratilova in many Wimbledon Championships, two titles.
"I asked him what could she have done, what could her team have done? And he said as a coach I would have taken more responsibility of taking the fear away from her. Sometimes when you’re out there on the biggest stages fear can just freeze you like a deer in headlights.
"But credit to Iga. She came out like the veteran, like the killer she is, and just dominated from the word go. Even walking out of the locker room, being 20 feet in front of Amanda. It was amazing to see her have that turnaround from a lacklustre clay court season, to be able to prove herself on the grass courts, where everyone counted her out."
