Austrian number one Jurgen Melzer and wild card Daniel Koellerer advanced to the quarterfinals of St Pölten on Wednesday, as Swede Stefan Koubek withdrew due to illness against sixth seed David Sanchez and wild card Julian Knowle fell to Olivier Rochus 3-

Melzer defeated Russian Igor Andreev 6-3 7-5 and said after his match, "I played a very good match. It's tough to play Andreev, he's tough with his forehand, he plays a lot of spin, and he makes you run a lot.
"I'm glad that I won and I'm looking forward to the quarterfinals and hopefully I can get another win."
Koellerer advanced to his first career main tour quarterfinal with a 6-2 4-6 6-3 victory over seventh seed Ivo Karlovic of Croatia.
"It's amazing to be in the quarterfinal here, a great feeling," said 20-year-old Koellerer.
"I was able to stay focused and concentrated and kept believing that I could win, especially as I was confident with my returns. This is the best win of my career so far."
In other second round match, Victor Hanescu of Romania defeated qualifier Nenad Zimonjic 6-2, 6-2.
