Six Nations: Tom Rogers, Josh Adams out of Wales squad, Max Ojomoh called up by England in place of Ollie Lawrence

Wales have been dealt a blow ahead of the final round of the men’s Six Nations, with two of their wings, Tom Rogers and Josh Adams, ruled out with injury. Both have been released from the squad ahead of the clash with England, with no replacements called up. Max Ojomoh has been added to the England squad in place of Ollie Lawrence, while Ireland have a trio of returning players.

Wales will be fielding a different line-up when they take on England in Cardiff this Saturday in the final round of the Six Nations, looking to finally end their run of 15 straight defeats.
The Welsh are without a win so far in 2025, and need to beat their old rivals if they are to stand any chance of avoiding the wooden spoon.
But they are going up against an England team that is in with a sniff of the championship, and who memorably beat France in this year’s tournament.
That makes the clash difficult enough for Wales, but now they have a double injury blow to contend with.
Josh Adams played the opening two matches of this year’s tournament before being ruled out with a hamstring injury, and it appears that there is no chance of a recovery as he has been released from the squad
Tom Rogers has played in every round so far, but sustained a fractured thumb in the defeat to Scotland last weekend, which has ruled him out of the final weekend of the tournament.
Wales have not called up any replacements for their training squad, which leaves them with the possibility of deploying utility backs on the wing this weekend.
Joe Roberts replaced Rogers at Murrayfield after just nine minutes - with Ellis Mee forced to switch to the other wing in a reshuffle.
Interim coach Matt Sherratt will name his squad later this week. Wales sit bottom of the table with three points from the four rounds played, all three being bonus points accrued in losing efforts.
But with Italy ahead on four points, there is still a chance that Wales could avoid picking up the wooden spoon for the second straight year.

Uncapped Ojomoh added to England squad

England have added uncapped Max Ojomoh into their squad ahead of the match in Cardiff, as a replacement for centre Ollie Lawrence.
Lawrence limped off last weekend after just eight minutes in the clash against Italy, with head coach Steve Borthwick later revealing the centre had suffered an Achilles injury.
Lawrence then took to social media to confirm his season was over - arguably ending his chances of a place on the Lions tour.
"Lost for words… That’s not how I imagined my season to end," he said.
"Extremely grateful to have such an amazing partner, family and friends around me to take on this next chapter. The comeback is always greater than the set back."
Lawrence’s Bath team-mate Ojomoh has been drafted into the squad as a replacement, with the 24-year-old a possible partner for Henry Slade in the middle of the park as England chase an outside chance of championship glory in Cardiff.

Ireland head to Rome boosted by returning Furlong

Tadhg Furlong looks set to play for Ireland for the first time this season, with the prop on course to take part in the final round of Six Nations matches.
The Irish forward last played for Ireland in July, with hamstring and calf injuries forcing him onto the sidelines for a lengthy spell.
He is not the only player Ireland are able to recall, with Garry Ringrose available for selection after suspension, while Mack Hansen is also in contention after missing the loss to France with a quad injury.
It remains unknown whether James Lowe will recover from his back injury in time for the final round of matches, the wing a late replacement last weekend after pulling up in the warm-up.
Following the defeat to France, Ireland’s hopes of championship glory are not in their own hands - but they can still take the title if they beat Italy in Rome and other results go their way.
