Scotland 35-29 Wales result – Six Nations latest as Blair Kinghorn and Tom Jor­dan score brace of tries each at home

Scotland survived a late fightback from Wales to record a 35-29 victory at Murrayfield.

Fresh from a narrow defeat against England two weeks ago, Scotland were looking for revenge in front of their home supporters.

The ruthless hosts hit their visitors quickly with Blair Kinghorn opening the scoring with just five minutes on the clock.

During a dominant first half, Tom Jor­dan scored a brace, while Dar­cy Gra­ham also crossed the whitewash to lead by 20 points, as Blair Mur­ray scored in reply for Wales.

King­horn scored his second after the break to add further misery for Wales and the home fans were hoping for more tries.

However, talisman Finn Rus­sell was among a host of changes and momentum swung in the tie.

Ben Thomas and Ted­dy Williams scored tries for Wales, and then with the clock in the red Max Llewellyn crossed for a fourth bonus-point try for the visitors.

It could have been even more tense for the home fans had Taulupe Faletau not seen his try ruled out by TMO.

Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend has reflected on a six-point victory against Wales.

He told BBC Sport: "I’m very pleased with the start of the game and how we continued throughout that first half.

"We did talk at half-time about building on that lead. Sometimes it's difficult against an opposition who are a quality team, who get things right and got more of the ball in the second half.

"Sometimes changes to the bench are never as smooth. We're disappointed with not scoring when we had a couple of chances in the last five minutes and conceding those tries."

On facing France next week, Townsend said: "We need to make sure that we don’t give them any momentum or easy opportunities to get on the ball.

"They're so dangerous on the counter-attack or if you make an error they usually score on the back of it."

Blair Kinghorn was named player of the match and reflected on Scotland’s win.

He told the BBC: "It was really good, playing the last home game of this year’s Six Nations, it’s always nice to get a win.

"We should have won last week (against England) so we got a bit of revenge today. I’m very happy."

On being sick, he said: "I didn’t realise I was on the big screen, I’m sure that will pop up in the next couple of days."

On the France game next week, Kinghorn said: "It’s going to be a massive game over there. They are going for the championship, we will go there and try and spoil the party. It will be a great game."

Scotland bounced back from their narrow defeat against England last weekend to beat Wales.

The hosts were in cruise control until Wales rallied in the second half and got back within six points at the end.

Scotland will have a tough task on their hands at title-chasing France next weekend.

Wales will host England and are staring at losing every match in the tournament.

That’s full-time and despite an improved second half performance Wales’ losing streak continues.

Wales pick up two bonus points at the death with Llewellyn scoring a late fourth try.

A Wales line-out is played down to Thomas who finds the run of Llewellyn to score.

The subsequent Evans conversion earns Wales a losing bonus point.

Scotland kick the ball out and the crowd think that the game is over in the red.

However, a penalty is awarded for off-side and Wales with have another effort.

Some valiant defending by Wales who drag down Kinghorn just short of the try-line. The subsequent drive is held up amongst a ruck of bodies.

Jordan finds a hole in the Wales defence and looks through on the try-line. However, at the last moment Roberts makes a saving challenge five metres out.

Murray with a surging run through a pack of players. However, he looks to have jumped over a low challenge in a pack of players.

Murray is eventually challenged before pulling the ball through to Faletau for a try. However, Scotland are furious with Evans for jumping a tackle and TMO agrees.

The hosts are determined to further their advantage as Kinghorn drives forward. It is played out wide to Jones who jumps to evade a tackle, but drops the ball forward.

Scotland respond to that try with drive after drive on the Wales line.

Ashman thinks he is over with a pick and go, but falls just short. Moments later the ball is held up over the line.

Rho­dri comes on for To­mos Williams in a further Wales change.

A third try for Wales. A line-out results a drive which is pulled down. However, the ball is played along the line to Williams who is too strong for his covering defender and scores.

Evans converts and have closed the gap to 13 points.

Brown on for Gray; also Rowe has replaced Graham

This game could become uncomfortable for Scotland.

The changes for the hosts has resulted in Scotland losing their spark and dominance in this game.

Wales could close the gap further in this last 13 minutes.

Scotland make three changes: Suther­land on for Schoe­man; Hurd on for Fager­son; Mc­Dowall on for Russell.

Also for Wales: Williams is on for Row­lands

Wales pull a try back as Evans spots the run of Thomas off the ball who jinks past the final defender to score.

Evans converts the try and Wales reduce their deficit to 20 points.

The Scotland talisman kicks the ball up high and then runs onto the ball. However, on collecting the high ball he knocks on.

Moments later Kinghorn is filmed on his knee and being sick. He’s okay to continue though.
