Scotland have added Ali Price, Cameron Redpath, and Ross McCann to the squad ahead of Saturday's Calcutta Cup clash with England at Twickenham. The trio replace Matt Currie, George Horne and Alexander Masibaka. Ali Price, Cameron Redpath and Ross McCann have been called up to the Scotland squad for Saturday's Six Nations visit to England.
Scrum-half George Horne sustained a facial injury during Glasgow's win over the Dragons on Sunday and is still being assessed by medics at the club.
Matt Currie also suffered a concussion in Edinburgh's loss to Zebre on Friday, while Alexander Masibaka returns to Pro D2 club Soyaux Angouleme XV Charente.
Price returns after last featuring in the Autumn Nations Series win over Fiji. The Edinburgh scrum-half has been capped 68 times for Scotland.
Bath centre Redpath recently returned from injury and played in his club's last two matches in the Premiership Rugby Cup, scoring against Bristol.
Redpath made his debut in the 2021 win over England against Twickenham, which was the first of four successive wins for Scotland in the Calcutta Cup.
Edinburgh winger McCann made his Scotland debut in last summer's 73-12 win over Canada.
Fly-half Finn Russell and winger Darcy Graham are both fighting to be involved in Saturday's showdown after they collided with each other in the first half of last Sunday’s 32-18 defeat by Ireland at Murrayfield.
Both players are still in the squad and have taken part in light training at Scotland's base in Oliva Nova in Spain.
Their 12-day stand-down period following their concussions will end on Thursday, the day that Gregor Townsend's squad will fly to London.
"They’re both progressing well through the protocols," said Scotland assistant coach Pete Horne. "There are still a couple of days left until we finalise the team and things. There’s a fair bit of training to do.
"I think depending on how that goes over the next couple of days, there’s a chance that they could both play. They’re not full training, but we did some light skills today and they were both involved in that."
While Russell and Graham are pushing to be involved, Scotland are still without a raft of players, including Sione Tuipulotu, Scott Cummings, Josh Bayliss, and Adam Hastings.
Scotland have the chance to win the Calcutta Cup for the fifth year running this weekend at Twickenham. Their 2021 win ended 38 years of waiting for a win at the home of English rugby.
"We’ve not done too well [at Twickenham] until recently, but that’s what’s great about it, the boys have got experience of going down there and getting results," Horne added.
"I think we’ve shown we’ve got the game that can cause them a lot of problems."
"But they’re in a good spot at the moment. They’re off the back of a brilliant result [against France] so they’ll be full of confidence. It’s a massive game for them, with us having won the last four.
"There’ll be a little bit of needle to add to what’s always a very big game with the rivalry that’s there. It’s a good challenge for our boys to get back on the horse and stay in the tournament."
