England recorded a hard-fought win over Argentina on Saturday with a 35-12 victory in La Plata, with centurion George Ford hailing a "great" result.
Steve Borthwick's England travelled just south of Buenos Aires for their match against Argentina, with fly-half Ford making his 100th appearance for his country.
With the scores at 0-0 on 16 minutes, Alex Coles was sent to the sin bin as he made direct contact with the head of Facundo Isa in a tackle.
Argentina passed up a chance to go in front three minutes later when Santiago Carreras missed a penalty, and Ford sunk a drop goal two minutes later for the visitors.
Debutant Seb Atkinson then found himself in the sin bin for repeated transgressions, leaving England briefly down to 13 men.
It was only on 31 minutes that England were able to play with their full complement again. Argentina dominated with 58% of the ball in the first half, but Borthwick’s side shut them out.
Tom Roebuck went over the line shortly after the restart to make it 8-0, with Ford missing the conversion.
With England now able to go toe-to-toe, they raced to 22-0 after 48 minutes, as Freddie Steward dived over in front of the posts and Roebuck added another, with Ford converting both.
Four minutes later, Pablo Matera scored a try after England failed to deal with a high ball.
Carreras was able to convert Pedro Rubiolo's effort as the home side broke through, though Ford hit back with two quick penalties to move England 28-12 clear.
Cadan Murley scored a late try as he dummied to create space to reach the touchline, and Ford was there for another two points to seal victory.
Speaking after the win, Ford praised his team-mates for their efforts.
He told Sky Sports: "We just wanted to perform well and win today. It’s all about the team. It’s a great win for us.
"We were under pressure in the first half. We gave too many penalties away and didn’t get out of our half enough. We needed to create some try-scoring opportunities and we did in the second half. We know Argentina are going to come back at us next week, and it’s a challenge we look forward to."
