MEAD AND RUSSO GET GUNNERS UP AND RUNNING IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Arsenal registered their first win of this season's UEFA Women's Champions League following a 2-0 victory over Benfica.
Second-half goals from Beth Mead and Alessia Russo secured all three points for the reigning champions at Estadio da Luz.
Chances did not fall too freely during the first half. The best chance came in the 41st minute when Daphne van Domselaar made a smart reflex save to keep out Diana Gomes' header.
However, it was Arsenal who grabbed the breakthrough 12 minutes into the second half. Mead reacted quickest to pounce on a loose ball in the six-yard box, and prod the ball past Benfica goalkeeper Lena Pauels.
The visitors sealed the points with a minute remaining following a neatly-worked free-kick, which saw substitute Chloe Kelly roll the ball into the penalty area for Russo to apply the finishing touch from close range.

FIRST WIN ON THE BOARD
22:00
ARSENAL BOUNCE BACK
Both sides were looking to bounce back from 2-1 defeats on matchday one.
Chances did not fall too freely for either side, as they registered a combined two shots on target during the first half.
Arsenal struck in the 57th minute in untidy fashion, but they did not care, and it certainly settled them down.
It looked like the goal would be enough, though the visitors made absolutely certain when Russo scored her customary Champions League goal.
That's now nine since the start of last season, while Arsenal celebrated back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since March.

Surely, the points are now in the bag for the reigning champions!
It's a free-kick straight from the training ground, as Kelly rolls the ball into the penalty area from a free-kick on the left.
Russo reacts the quickest to get there first and steer it into the bottom corner.
