The Spanish are heavy favourites with five wins in their last five games, including a 4-1 victory over Portugal in the qualifier. The Portuguese have a more mixed record, with three draws and two wins.

Marta Torrejón, the Spain captain, is reishing the challenge against the tournament debutants. "I spoke to my brother, Marc (of Union Berlin), yesterday. He asked if I was ready and of course I am. We’re ready and we want to get on with the games. My brother has been a player I’ve always looked up to.

"This is different to the qualifiers. We’ve got a strong Portugal team with great players like Claudia Neto in front of us. We’re ready for it and we’ve prepared for the match just like they have."
