Williams, Barcola top Bayern's wishlist
Sky Sport Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Bayern Munich are interested in signing Athletic Club forward Nico Williams as well as Paris Saint-Germain striker Bradley Barcola.
Williams has enjoyed another impressive campaign with the Liga outfit and contributed 11 goals and seven assists across all competitions.
His influence helped Athletic reach the UEFA Europa League semi-finals and qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League.
Meanwhile, Barcola was part of the historic PSG team that won the treble under Luis Enrique this season.
"Bradley Barcola and Nico Williams are currently at the top of FC Bayern’s shortlist," Plettenberg wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
"There has been contact between Bayern and Barcola’s camp. Chances would increase if PSG were to sign another winger.
"At the same time, positive and concrete talks are ongoing with Williams’ camp. Williams has already reduced his salary demands for Bayern. He is currently earning €7–8m net."
Barca to pursue Diaz over Williams
Mundo Deportivo report that Barcelona have decided to pursue Liverpool forward Luis Diaz over Nico Williams.
There had been reports that Liverpool rejected an approach for Diaz from the newly-crowned La Liga champions.
However, Barca are reportedly calm about the situation and have made the Colombia international a key target this summer.
"Liverpool's Colombian winger is Barca's main target to strengthen their forward line, and the club accepts Liverpool's current refusal to part ways with him, with almost three months left until the transfer window closes, as normal," the report reads.
"They know there's still a long way to go and that the Premier League champions themselves need to make money for a player who has already publicly admitted to being in talks "with some clubs" without completely closing the door on renewing his contract, which runs until 2027.
"His privileged position in Barca's plans contrasts with that of Nico Williams at Barca. Despite his strong performance in the Nations League semi-final against France, the option of looking to pay his buyout clause at Athletic Club has been ruled out by the Catalan club."
AC Milan set asking price for Leao
Rafael Leao's future is being monitored by Bayern Munich as AC Milan have set their asking price, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 26-year-old was part of the Portugal side that defeated Spain to win the UEFA Nations League on Sunday in Munich.
It has been reported that the Bundesliga club had intermediaries in attendance to watch Leao, but Milan have slapped an asking price of €100m on their forward.
The newspaper states: "Observers from Bayern Munich were apparently sitting in the home stands – the game was played at the Allianz Arena – perhaps to judge Leao’s attitude and form: his characteristics are now well known.
"Milan has a three-figure valuation: if the Germans or whoever seriously wants to come forward, they should bring a check for €100million. No discounts.
"On the contrary, a potential buyer can go directly to the cashier with €175m, the value of the buyout clause: an estimate that is absolutely off the market.
"The Rossoneri hope that the €100m asking price will discourage those interested clubs: Rafa is valued as a top-tier player and not available at a discounted price for potential suitors."
De Bruyne on cusp of Napoli move
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is on the cusp of signing for Napoli when his contract expires at the end of June.
The Belgium international is supposedly set to sign a two-year contract with the Serie A champions, and Romano claims the contracts have been accepted, with a medical to come.
"Kevin De Bruyne, on the verge of completing his move to Napoli!" wrote the Italian journalist.
"Contracts have been approved and just waiting for KDB to sign a two year deal with option for further season.
"Medical tests to follow as next step… here we go, coming soon."
Ranieri rejects Italy job
Claudio Ranieri has told news outlet ANSA that he turned down the offer to become the next Italy manager.
Luciano Spalletti announced that he would be leaving his role as national team coach following a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Norway.
Ranieri, who famously led Leicester City to the Premier League title in 2015/16, told the publication that he rejected the chance to lead his country into next year's World Cup.
"I'd like to thank president [Gabriele] Gravina for the opportunity, a great honour, but I have reflected and decided to remain at Roma's disposal in my new position completely," Ranieri said.
"The Friedkins have given me their full support and backing for whatever decision I have taken regarding the national team, but the decision is mine alone."
