Onana closes in on Villa move

Aston Villa have beaten Bayern Munich and Barcelona to the signature of Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, it has been claimed.
The Belgium international is reportedly on the brink of completing a £50 million move to Unai Emery’s side, despite Bayern and Barcelona showing interest.
“Aston Villa have allegedly beaten Bayern Munich and Barcelona in the transfer chase for Everton’s Amadou Onana,” writes The Sun.
“Onana’s displays under Sean Dyche for The Toffees have led to interest from a host of Premier League rivals.
“Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle have all been linked with a swoop for him.
“German giants Bayern and Spanish big boys Barca were ‘also known admirers’ of Onana.
“However, after Belgium were beaten by France in the last 16 of the Euros, the wheels have finally started to turn regarding a transfer move away from Goodison Park.
“And The Athletic is now claiming that Villa ‘are in the process of finalising an agreement with Everton’ in a deal worth around £50 million.
“They state that Unai Emery’s side, who are preparing for Champions League football this term, have agreed personal terms with Onana on a long-term contract.”

Maguire wants to fight for place at Man Utd

Harry Maguire wants to remain at Manchester United and fight for a place in Erik ten Hag’s side.
That is according to the Daily Star, which claims The Red Devils are also keen on keeping the England international in their squad.
United have been strongly linked with a move for a defender this summer, including Lille’s Leny Yoro, Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite and Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt.
“Harry Maguire is going nowhere this summer - as he plans to fight for his Manchester United career," states the report.
“Maguire even had a United physio join him on holiday in Portugal to monitor his progress and put him through some specific training sessions. That underlines the central defender’s determination to force his way back into Erik ten Tag’s thinking for the 2024-25 season.
“Such a situation would have been inconceivable this time last year when Maguire, stripped of the captaincy, seemed on his way. Yet the Three Lions star appears to be winning his personal battle to convince Ten Hag that he can be a valuable asset to the squad.
“The Dutchman was hugely impressed by Maguire’s attitude and form last year after recalling him to the first team amid a crippling injury crisis at the back. And the Reds boss is happy to keep him - rather than let him leave on the cheap before transfer deadline.”

Toney could make Man Utd switch

Manchester United are also being linked with a move for England striker Ivan Toney.
The Mail suggests Toney wants to leave Brentford this summer and would jump at the chance of joining The Red Devils.
“After holding a recruitment meeting at Carrington on the first day of pre-season on Monday, United have wasted no time pressing ahead with their transfer plans,” reads the article.
“Erik ten Hag's side are closing in on deals for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee and Bayern Munich defender Matthijs De Ligt now the Netherlands are out of Euro 2024.
“Toney has a year remaining on his current deal with The Bees and talks over a new contract have not taken place.
“The striker, who returned to action in January after an eight-month ban for breaching the FA's betting rules, is keen on the move to Old Trafford and his agent has informed Brentford.”
