Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli have completed the signing of Algerian international winger Riyad Mahrez from Manchester City for a fee of around £30m. Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli have announced the signing of Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez.
The 32-year-old Algerian had a contract with City that ran until 2025 but the Saudi side have signed the former Leicester City player for a reported fee of £30m.
Mahrez has signed a deal until 2027 and becomes the latest big-name player to move to Saudi Arabia this summer after Karim Benzema, Roberto Firmino, N'Golo Kante and Edouard Mendy.
Mahrez joined City from Leicester City in 2018 and played 236 games under Pep Guardiola, scoring 78 goals.
“To play for Manchester City has been an honour and privilege,” said Mahrez.
“I came to City to win trophies and enjoy my football and I achieved all that and so much more.
“I have had five unforgettable years with this football club, working with unbelievable players, fantastic supporters, and the best manager in the world.
“Manchester City will forever be a huge and happy part of my life.”
As well as last season’s Champions League which completed the treble, Mahrez won the Premier League four times with City, two FA Cups and three League Cups.
Mahrez made his name in the 2015/16 season with Leicester City in their famous Premier League-winning campaign, performing brilliantly under Claudio Ranieri.
Since their stunning campaign last season, a number of players at the Etihad have been linked with a move away, including Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva.
Ilkay Gundogan moved to Barcelona on a free transfer, while City signed Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea.
