NEWCASTLE TRYING TO CARRY THE FIGHT TO CITY
Easier said than done, but a decent break ends with a City goalkick after Gordon picked out Joe Willock making a nice run. Right idea, but just went wrong at the last minute.

FIRST BOOKING OF THE NIGHT
Fabian Schär is deemed guilty of a late one on the ever-eager Haaland. Didn't look too much in that, but referee Simon Hooper decided otherwise.

CITY SEEKING A RAPID SECOND
Dúbravka quickly off his line to halt the ball with Haaland attempting to land on top of the Mateo Kovacic chip over the top. Lovely piece of play with the visitors being pulled all over the place. 84% of possession so far.

GOAL! (BERNARDO SILVA) CITY 1-0 NEWCASTLE
Well, it was coming and it duly arrives as Rodri feeds Bernardo Silva, whose shot spins off Dan Burn inside the box and loops over Martin Dúbravka and into the net. City with the vital first goal in this quarter-final.

THE FA CUP BRINGS FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION
A one-off FA Cup tie gives Newcastle a free hit at the Premier League champions. Certainly look lively enough early on, but City are like a machine on the ball. Waiting patiently for the first signs of space as they work it side to side.

FINE PIECE OF DEFENDING BY NEWCASTLE
Excellent play by Murphy to get himself in between Doku and goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka. Game is fairly rattling along with both teams happy to go at it. More excellent stopping by Botman to cut out the Doku ball seconds later.

RODRI WITH A RARE MISPLACED PASS
Don't often see many of those as Newcastle repel City's latest attack. Guardiola comes out of his technical area to make a point or two about what he'd like to see. Which is an opening goal surely.

NEWCASTLE TRYING TO PRESS HIGH
Certainly need to find that aggression this evening as Dias does well to clear a decent ball from Murphy over the top. Gordon and Isak looking to press high on the City defence. Walker then throws over a decent ball at other end, but cleared by the visitors.

CITY TRYING TO MAKE A FAST START
The home side keeping the ball with their usual relish. Big, big ask for the visitors to keep pace with Guardiola's side. Haaland taken out of the action late by Botman as City creep inside the visiting half.

CITY ON THE CHARGE RIGHT AWAY
Doku showing some lovely footwork to dance into the opposition box. Very fine play, but Jamaal Lascelles is equal to the task in clearing the danger. Newcastle with a huge travelling support tonight.

HOWE IS EDDIE GOING TO GET A RESULT TONIGHT?
Newcastle have lost 15 of their past 16 matches at Manchester City, including the past nine straight fixtures at the Etihad. Their rare moment of joy was a 2-0 League Cup win in October 2014. Newcastle are hoping to reach their first FA Cup semi-final since 2004/05.
“I don’t think the season is on this one FA Cup tie,” said Howe, whose side are 10th in the Premier League. “We’re still very much in the hunt for trying to squeeze into Europe through the league.”

WE ALSO HAVE LIVE PREMIER LEAGUE ACTION TONIGHT
There might be FA Cup distractions elsewhere, but it’s a big day in the Premier League too. Today Spurs have the chance to jump up to fourth place in the league, and nestle into an automatic Champions League qualifying position with ten games left in the season. Aiming to stop them will be their hosts Fulham. They have nothing to play for and therefore nothing to lose, which makes them more than capable of chucking a very large spanner in the works. PEP UPBEAT AFTER DRAWING REAL MADRID IN UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Manchester City and Real Madrid will renew Champions League pleasantries in the quarter-final of this year's competition having been draw together for the third season in a row. City beat Real in last year's semi-final after the Spaniards triumphed a year prior. Pep Guardiola says the regular meetings between the two sides are now like a "tradition". City could still emulate their treble glory of Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League.

NEWCASTLE HAVE INSPIRATION FOR AN UPSET
Championship side Coventry City are into the FA Cup semi-finals after one of the most mind-boggling finishes seen in the competition for many seasons. Coventry were ahead by a single goal as late as the 83rd minute, when chaos ensued. First Wolves got a two-goal salvo to look like they had stolen victory, before the visitors hit back and scored twice themselves to make the last four. Read more here:
