Scott McTominay has left Manchester United after 22 years at the club to join Serie A side Napoli in a deal reported to be worth over £25 million.
The 27-year-old joined United’s youth set-up in 2002 aged five and rose through the academy ranks before representing the first-team 255 times.
Man Utd are set to receive all profits for the home-grown midfielder, which will improve their position with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
The club has spent heavily in the transfer market this summer to acquire the signings of Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte.
"Good luck, Scott, arrivederci and thank you for the fabulous memories," a United statement said.
According to The Athletic, United will also receive a share in any future sales of McTominay from the 2022/23 Italian champions.
The Scotland international leaves his boyhood club with a year left on his contract.
He signed his first professional contract at Old Trafford in 2013 but did not make his senior debut until May 2017 in a 2-0 away defeat to Arsenal.
During his time at United, McTominay has scored 29 goals and registered eight assists, with his best goal-scoring campaign coming last term, when he struck 10 times in all competitions.
He played over 90 minutes in the final of the club's 2024 FA Cup triumph against rivals Manchester City and came off the bench to help United to League Cup success a year earlier.

In 2018, McTominay won his first senior cap for Scotland under Alex McLeish and has played 52 times for his nation.
The midfielder’s helpful goal contributions have continued on the international scene, where he has scored an impressive nine goals and provided three assists.

He represented his country at both UEFA Euro 2020 and Euro 2024 and played every minute of the six games across the two campaigns.
His new team Napoli - led by Antonio Conte - are hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 2023/24 campaign where they finished 10th, just one year after claiming their first Scudetto in 33 years.
As well as McTominay, Conte has also landed the signature of another Scottish midfielder in Billy Gilmour.
The 23-year-old Brighton player was repeatedly linked with a move to Napoli during the transfer window and the deal was eventually confirmed on deadline day.
