INTER’S WIN NOT ENOUGH AS NAPOLI CLINCH SERIE A TITLE
A 2-0 win over 10-man Como was not enough for Inter to retain the Serie A title, as they were pipped to the post by Napoli on Friday.
Inter went into their clash with Cesc Fabregas’ team knowing they needed to win in order to stand a chance of securing the Scudetto for a second season running.
And when Stefan de Vrij headed them in front midway through the first half at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, the title was in their grasp.
Pepe Reina’s straight red card in his final game before retirement further helped Inter’s cause, but by that time, Scott McTominay had already put Antonio Conte’s Napoli 1-0 up against Cagliari.
Joaquin Correa doubled Inter’s advantage early in the second half, though with Romelu Lukaku doing likewise for Napoli, the Nerazzurri’s place in second was confirmed, and Simone Inzaghi’s team must now rally ahead of taking on Paris Saint-Germain in next week’s UEFA Champions League final - live on TNT Sports and discovery+.

FULL-TIME: COMO 0-2 INTER
Inter do their bit, but it’s not going to be enough to win the Serie A title — the title is surely heading back to Naples!
There are some miserable faces among the Inter players, who must now swiftly switch focus to next week, when they take on PSG in the Champions League final.
Goals from De Vrij and Correa got the job done for the visitors today, with Reina seeing red for Como, but barring a miracle, Napoli are heading for a 2-0 win over Cagliari, which means Inter will finish second.
Como will finish their season in 10th place.

HALF-CHANCE
Topalovic is released into the left-hand channel by a well-weighted Correa pass, but the youngster can't quite engineer the space for a shot, as we head into three minutes of stoppage time.

TIME TICKING AWAY
Barring a miracle – and this writer really can't see one coming – the title is Napoli's, and Inter's win isn't going to be enough.
Inzaghi's team have played well enough tonight, though, to at least have a solid warm-up in their legs ahead of next week's crunch clash with PSG in Munich.

SOMMER SAVES
A big chance for former Milan striker Cutrone!
He tries a first-time effort and rather snatches at it, scuffing his strike low down the centre of the goal, where Sommer gratefully dives on it.

HOMETOWN HERO
Iovine is indeed on, replacing Paz. He is a local boy who has served his hometown club well, and he'll now get a deserved send off.
Ikone has also come on, with Van der Brempt making way.

INTER SUB
Topalovic is on in place of Zalewski, who has been the brightest player on the pitch today.

ANOTHER ONE BOWING OUT
Reina is not the only Como player who is retiring tonight.
A banner has just gone up in the stands to celebrate the career of Alessio Iovine, who is calling time on his playing career too. He could soon be about to come on, which is sure to bring up a huge cheer from the home fans.

ARNAUTOVIC ON
Taremi heads off, and he is replaced by fellow veteran campaigner Arnautovic.

STAR BOY
Cast back to an hour or so, and two players were handed awards for their fantastic individual seasons.
Nico Paz was named Serie A's best player aged under 23, while Alessandro Bastoni scooped the prize of best defender.
While Bastoni has not come on from the Inter bench yet, Paz is still out there, showing some quality and plenty of endeavour, though to no avail just yet.

GLUM FACES IN THE STANDS
A look at the directors' boxes at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia shows plenty of subdued faces.
Como's chiefs aren't getting the jubilant end to a fantastic season that they would have craved, while Inter bosses know their title hopes are swiftly slipping away.
Cutrone has just tried his luck from close range, but dragged his attempt well wide.

COMO PUSHING
The hosts have not given up, even with their numerical disadvantage.
A nice move sees the ball worked into the penalty area, but a first-time effort from Cutrone is blocked.

REINA'S SAD END
This contest has not been helped, of course, by the extremely harsh call from referee Davide Massa to send Reina off late in the first half.
Reina was embraced by his team-mates, and some of Inter's players, as he made way, bringing the curtain down on his extraordinary career.

TRIPLE SUB
It's three changes for Inter, as Acerbi, Dumfries and Barella all enter the fray, presumably to get some minutes in their legs ahead of next week's clash with PSG in Munich.
Bisseck, Dimarco and Calhanoglu are the players to have made way.
