He said it was a "life choice" to prolong his stay in Milan.
Adriano, 23, scored a hat-trick for Inter in their first Serie A match of the season against Treviso last month.
He then scored another hat-trick for Brazil in their 5-0 win over Chile earlier this month to secure the world champions' qualification for next year's World Cup finals in Germany.
He joined Inter from Brazilian club Flamengo in 2001 and scored on his debut in a friendly against Real Madrid but went on to spend three seasons on loan at Fiorentina and Parma before returning to Inter in 2004.
He helped Inter to an Italian Cup triumph last season and scored 16 goals during the Serie A campaign when they finished third.
