Greece defender Nikos Dabizas has been put on the transfer list by Newcastle United. The premier league club said Dabizas was one of five players the club are releasing. The others are Chile's Clarence Acuna, Robbie Elliott, Jamie McClen and Wayne Quinn.
Elliott, 30, first joined Newcastle as a trainee and made his debut for the club in 1990-91. After four seasons at Bolton he returned to Newcastle in 2001.
Dabizas, 29, was the first Greek to play in an English FA Cup final in 1998, two months after he joined Newcastle from Olympiakos for 1.3 million pounds. He started 21 games for United last season and has started a total of 163 games in all.
Midfielder Acuna, 28, joined United from Universidad de Chile in October 2000 but started only four games last season.
