The big news from the weekend is that Leeds United's star winger Harry Kewell seems to be on the verge of signing for Gerard Houllier's Liverpool. For weeks the talk regarding the Australian's apparently imminent departure from Elland Rd revolved around a cash-and-player deal with Arsenal.
However Leeds would prefer cash to tackle the massive debts and Houllier, having missed out on luring Damien Duff to Anfield seems to have snuck in the backdoor for Eurosport's former Guest of the Week.
Arsenal are still in the thick of the transfer action though, with reports linking the Highbury club with former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam. Reports in the English press on Monday morning claim that a seven million pound move from Italian club Lazio could be completed within 48 hours.
Other rumours in brief:
Barcelona duo Patrick Kluivert and Frank De Boer to Newcastle.
Blackburn's David Dunn to Birmingham.
Manchester United's John O'Shea to Real Madrid.
Out of contract Teddy Sheringham to Portsmouth.
Arsenal's Freddy Ljungberg to Inter Milan.
Deportivo's Roy Makaay to Manchester United.
Real Madrid's Raul to Manchester United.
