Ruben Amorim will apologise to Manchester United fans for the club’s abysmal season after the final Premier League match of the season against Aston Villa.
The Red Devils host Unai Emery’s side at Old Trafford on Sunday – live on TNT Sports and discovery+  – at the end of a woeful campaign which has broken a series of unwanted records.
United are guaranteed to finish in their lowest Premier League position, in what is the club's worst domestic campaign since being relegated from the top flight in the 1973/74 season.
Amorim’s side also missed the chance to salvage their season in the UEFA Europa League following a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the final on Wednesday.
He told the media: "It will be an apology, I think that's clear. I don't have time for an explanation.
"I will be honest with the fans and say what is in my mind and especially my heart."
The manager spoke in more detail about the post-match lap of appreciation and highlighted the importance of addressing the fans.

‘Better club next season’ – Amorim positive about Man Utd future after ‘suffering a lot’

"It's tradition, and we have to face it," he explained. "It will be the biggest mistake if we don't do that.
"I know that the manager addresses the public and I will do that, it's the least I can do. I have an idea what I want to say but I will decide tomorrow. If ever there was a season that we need to do it, it's this one."
Meanwhile, in an exclusive interview with TNT Sports, Amorim described this season as the "toughest" of his career and is confident of turning the club's fortunes around in the new campaign.
He said: "I’m really glad I arrived six months before the new season as it’s going to give me a lot of information and I will take responsibility for some actions that we will take in the summer.
"We suffered a lot - I don’t like to say I suffered a lot - but we suffered a lot. It was really hard sometimes.
"I think what’s clear to everybody is that it was the toughest time in my career, even as a player. It was really tough.
"The results were hard to deal with. The disappointment of our fans was hard to deal with.
"But it will make us stronger. I know it’s hard to understand, but the club will be in a better way next season because of all the changes.
"You cannot see it in the results, you cannot see it on the pitch, but we will be a better club next season."
